Does anyone feel weird sending friend requests to school mates you haven’t seen in over 10 years?

I recently joined Facebook and Instagram again and started following some family and friends. I’m seeing mutuals popping up and most of them are my school mates who I haven’t seen since 2009. Most of them weren’t my actual friends but we were in the same class. I saw my bullies as well lol but I won’t add them. Should I send a request to my other school mates? Would it seem weird? For more context, I was the super shy girl that people made fun of, these other people are the ones who used to be popular. So I don't know I guess it’s making me feel as if I’m 13 again.

I personally don’t send friend requests to anyone that I’m not in contact with currently, I don’t like to have a friends list full of people that aren’t relevant in my life anymore. But occasionally I receive friend requests from people that I went to highschool with, and I don’t find it weird, i accept the requests if they’re people that were nice to me years ago.

when i add those types of people you are talking about, it's just another friend number to the count. we don't even interact or message each other. it's just to have on facebook and that's it. so if you do add them and they accept, don't expect much, they will rarely talk to you anyways. and i highly doubt they'll think it's weird because it's not like you're a stranger.

but if they weren't your actual friends, why bother? were they at least acquaintances? mutual friends? reading more through the question, you said you were the super shy girl that kds made fun of and you want to add the previously popular people... i was that shy girl lol don't make this mistake. move on. no need to add them. not sure why you would want to?
