Why does my close friend want me to repeat everything I know about people to her?

We’ve become more distant than we were, but we’re still good friends. She seems to want me to share everything I know with her, which I haven’t, as other people’s secrets aren’t my story to tell.

Good on you for staying true to your other friends / people who entrust you with their personal lives, secrets, etc.
Your close friend might be the type who enjoys knowing everything and anything about each person YOU spend time with, or share your life with as a way to also get to know them intimately without actually building that friendship with that person herself.
I think it's strange behavious she has asked you to disclose details, even personal things, about the people who are in your life.
I'm not sure her motive, or if she is just genuinely interested in learning about the people you spend time with and talk to, outside of your friendship with her, it could even be a jealousy thing and she is looking for drama or any details she can use to convey how much more important and easy SHE and her friendship is than anyone else's is to you.

I hope you continue to respect your other friends boundaries and do not disclose any information about other people, she has no right to put you on the spot or demand that information from you.
