I am doing what most adults do but I don’t feel like an adult why?

I live on my own, I pay rent/bills. I prepare my own food/ meals. I drive and have my own car. I know how to get around on my own without a car if I didn’t have a care. I take care of myself physically as far as hygiene and staying fit etc but I still don’t feel mature. I feel like something still is missing. My friend on the other hand, doesn’t have her own place, she doesn’t drive. She gets around by taking Uber’s. She can takes care of herself physically ( but who can’t do that?) yet when she talks, the way she thinks, how she operates it presents her to be mature, even more mature than me. All this time I thought having things materially is what made me an adult but I’m starting to think it’s more to it.

Do you read? Talk to people? Especially older people. I do a lot. I work in a hospital so when ever I get a chance I have conversations w older people. To me part of being an adult is realizing I don’t need all that material stuff. Some essentials yes but a majority of what I need now vs what I wanted when I was younger. Big difference. Its possible it may hav to do w how someone grew up. What their parents instilled in them. Someone who struggles more as opposed to someone w go grew up in a family who had everything. I spent about 10 years in the military. My outlook on life is much more deeper than what I used to think when I was much younger because of what I’ve seen. Where I’ve been. What I’ve been through.

@Alwayreckles93 I guess you could say that. I like to take in a lot of knowledge, especially from older people. But honestly I think most people feel as you get older you’re old, this old person who isn’t a kid no more. Takes things to serious. But honestly, yes I used to think the same. But as I’ve gotten older I’ve realize I’m still just a kid in an older being. Granted I don’t get drunk like I used to or do a lot of dumb things like I used to. But I don’t think people should ever lose that kid in them.

Well maturity is a huge part of it, which you seem to have to a point because you wanted and pushed for independence but usually it's the mentality that makes someone mature, your mentality is what you used to do these accomplishments, because someone could've gave you a car and house and a bunch of money to pay the bills, and even tho it might make someone look mature it doesn't make them mature it only makes them look like it so it's all in the mentality.
