My parents had a discussion with me about bullying. They told me in no uncertain terms that i had the right to stand up for myself and that anyone that was bullying me was fair game, but i was not allowed to start the fight as i didn't have any right to put my hands on anyone else unless they put their hands on me first, but i by God had better finish it!! My dad told me if he ever found out that I threw the first punch in a fight he'd take me out behind the barn and we'd find out who would walk or crawl away. My dad was an absolute mountain of a man so believe me when he said jump I asked how high on my way up. Every bully I ever had I beat the hell out of. Including the one that was 3 grades older then me and I can say for a fact that all bullies pick on you because they think you are weaker than they are and they are so shallow that picking on you makes them feel bigger in the britches. Then the truth comes out. They don't know how to fight and they're really just scared weak little people inside trying to make themselves feel bigger and better then someone else so they don't feel so small and weak. It's easy to deal with bullying when you know how. Just make yourself the meanest baddest one on the block when it comes to a fight and people learn to leave you alone. Another thing. NEVER EVER stand by and watch someone else get bullied and do nothing about it!! ALWAYS step in and stop that shit!!

I think it does depending on the depth of it. Some kids just don't have it within them to fight back. It matters not if you get your ass kicked while standing up for yourself. What matters is that you do. The bulky will always look for the easiest target. And if you stand up enough you just might find yourself on the winning end and become a bully's bully. That's fun.

Yes defo. Because even if you over come it you still reflect on the fact that it ever happened to you. Like if you weren't bullied by only one person and multiple people thought something was wrong with you, that is hard to take. Like I still think about the fact people only changed towards me because I became violent to people who said stuff to me and I faked my whole personality. Its messed up lol.

yes. i'm still feeling the repercussions today...

tho we have all moved on. it is still something that scars your soul, honestly. as cringy as that sounds. it's true. especially during childhood years where you're still developing and teenage years where you're still trying to figure out what the hell life even is

I was bullied fairly frequently growing up, but I can honestly say that I'm better for it today, especially on the occasions that women witnessed the bullying and expressed their approval and/or enjoyment of watching it take place.

It can leave some scars for sure but at some point you're suppose to cope with it. The way we can overcome childhood bullying is by making yourself a much stronger individual, whether emotinally or physically.

The more you think about the former bullies, the more power you're giving them to continue disturbing your life. They don't have power over you anymore.

Yes, you’re more prone to holding grudges, you develop a strong sense of anxiety, and you find yourself prone to isolating when in negative head spaces despite it being unhealthy to do so because you became used to that being the only peace available to you as those in authority would not help you the way you wanted them to. It creates unhealthy coping mechanisms that can be very difficult to undo.

Hotly debated as to negative/positive…but it does have effect.

I’d say we could make a lot of changes to schools, like easing back on algebra and Spanish in exchange for learning the stock market, what a fucking bond is, or even home ec. We should teach kids to cook.

Bullying will happen no matter what because bullies come in different forms. Is it negative? I’m not sure. Going completely the opposite way and regulating everything kids do and interact isn’t the answer

I think ANYTHING you endure in your formative years. Can leave a lasting impact. It doesn't mean it WILL though. a lot of it will come down to the person's personality and support structure.

Take school shooters. One thing almost all have in common is they generally had little to no support structure. Every person has a breaking point. And you were not raised with an understanding of value of human life that can have deadly implications.

It really depends on how you cope while it's happening and how you learn to process all of it in the aftermath years later.

In some cases, I'm sure it does. It greatly depends on the amount, the impact, the severity, and extent of the bullying.

Yes, I feel like it can, it can really change people. For the best or worst. It all depends on how they allow it to change them

I bet it was. Most kids that go into their school with an assault rifle and start killing kids at random are kids that were bullied.
