My uncle used to talk a lot but now he doesn’t as much I’m not sure what I’ve done because I live another country?

Last year he wished me a nice Christmas etc but this year he’s been quiet could it be because he is in his 70s now and some illness I don’t know about

I wouldn't automatically assume you've done something wrong, though. Sometimes older people, especially when they're dealing with health issues, can just kind of retreat and not be as communicative, you know? It's probably not anything you did.

The fact that he wished you a nice Christmas last year is a good sign, at least. That shows he was still thinking of you. But now with him being in his 70s, it could just be that he's not feeling as up to keeping up with regular conversation, especially since you're in a different country.

My advice would be to just try reaching out to him gently, see how he's doing. You could even ask your parents or other family members if they know anything about his health or what might be going on. Just let him know you're thinking of him and are there if he needs anything.

Try not to worry too much that you did something wrong. Older folks can be complicated sometimes. He's probably just going through some stuff. As long as he was cool with you last year, I'm sure it's not because of anything you did. Just stay patient and supportive, and hopefully he'll open back up when he's ready.
