I FORGOT my WIFE's BIRTHDAY, what should my PUNISHMENT be?

I forgot my wife's birthday this past week. After I didn't say or do anything on her birthday morning, she of course told me, very succinctly, what day it was and that I had forgotten her birthday.

I did take her and members of her family out to dinner at her favorite restaurant later that day.

Do I still need to be punished?

In my defense, and this is a poor one I know, my "crime" was not realizing what date it was. I know her birthday, I just didn't realize we were on that date yet. I thought it was still a few days away.

I can't imagine what relationship requires punishment for forgetting things...

I did it the easy way... a long time ago... all my kids and my partners got calendar invitations to important dates... with time, my kid's partners were added... works as a charm :D

I was on my cruise when I had my 70th birthday and neither my wife nor travelling companions said anything about it the entire day. I did not remind them because it just seems to become meaningless when someone responds only because they were reminded.

In my wife's defense, she grew up in a poor rural area of mainland China and it seems that birthday celebrations were not a big deal. She also said that she knew that my borthday was on January 14 but did not realize the date as we were at sea that entire day.

I think putting you (or my wife) on a spaceship and sending you into the deepest voids of the universe would probably be a bit too punitive.

Wait a few days. send her flowers (delivered at work,) with a note that says "I forgot your birthday but I never forget that I love you." Maybe that will help!

Can't you put a reminder in your cellphone a few days before her birthday for next year?

I still believe in old fashioned paper calendars and date books.

Since her birthday is at the very beginning of the year you should mark your calendar in December and again in January or it's off to the dog house you go!!
