My dad supports me financially but shuts down emotionally—how do I cope?

At this late date in his and your lives your father isn't likely to change. Accept that he shows his love for you by helping you financially. You can attempt to ask him why he doesn't like hearing what you have to say about your life, and see where that goes. But you might just keep your talks to subjects he appears interested in.

No he’s not paying for me I mean if I’m having a problem he just goes “oh here’s £40 treat yourself” then doesn’t really want to talk to me about the problem
