What's a Friendship Red Flag You Didn't Notice Until It Was Too Late?

Most of us have had at least one friendship that taught us a lesson the hard way. Sometimes the red flags are there from the beginning, but when you care about someone, you tend to make excuses for them or convince yourself that it's not a big deal. Then one day something happens, and suddenly all the little things you ignored start making sense.

For me, the biggest one was realizing that if someone is constantly talking badly about their other friends, sharing their personal business, or gossiping about everyone around them, they're probably doing the exact same thing about you when you're not there. I used to think, "Well, they're just being honest with me," but looking back, that was a huge warning sign I completely missed. 😅

That experience definitely made me more careful about who I keep close. I pay a lot more attention to how people treat others, not just how they treat me 👀

Or if I'm around a person and they have a boyfriend or girlfriend and they're talking bad about other people and the girlfriend or boyfriend think that it's normal that it's okay I always try to warn them and say look if he's talking bad about people like this the way that he is when it comes time and he's upset at you it's going to be 10 times worse so when your spouse or your mate or girlfriend boyfriend talks bad about people you have to understand you go through a breakup with them it's going to be 10 times worse for you

So if my friends start talking bad about anybody I know that the odds are they talk bad about me too

That's one of my pet peeves is I don't like anybody talking bad about anybody even if they're trying to warn you it's like okay that's cool whatever I'll find out myself I'll figure it out

Because when they do that they have to understand what it makes them look like How it makes them look like they are And it's usually true

LOL, I compartmentalize my life and control the information I share with other people. I do not spill my guts to casual friends. Learning to manage information is part of gaining maturity. Plus it's fun to leave people wondering rather than opening your mouth and removing all doubt.
