My parents caught me talking to my ex again and they are pissed?

They saw a notification on my phone saying that he texted me and we texted back and forth on what we both want as far as intentions and we want to possibly get back together as my intentions are to get married and have kids and he is on the same page with that and I’ve told him I’ve changed and we want to make the relationship work again and my parents aren’t too happy they say they won’t allow me to go back out with him again because they don’t approve of him and they want me going out with someone else that didn’t treat me the best and insulted me in the past but they know I’m still going back out with him but I don’t know if he truly wants anything serious with me but I actually want something serious again and I’m not texting guys to hook up anymore and I’m showing to my parents also that I’m changing for the better. I told my ex if it doesn’t work out with me and my other ex I will text him. I reached out to him first then got caught texting him. Was it a mistake on my part? Will my parents ever forgive me?

I suggest you change the password on your phone so your parents can't snoop.
It is your life to date anyone you want. Hopefully if you prove to them you are serious about a guy they will accept him.
Telling someone you'll reach out to them if things don't go well with someone else is not something to say to someone. People getting into serious relationships want to believe they are your first choice, not a consolation prize.
