I believe that if you don't want to lose that friend that you went through so much, you still should be there for him/her.

One of my guy friends fell "madly in love" with me. And I told him that I can't offer him a relationship, but a pure friendship. He got dramatic, and told me that life is full of bs and this is the last time I'll be hearing from him. He then posted on his Facebook wall: Whacha say by Jason D. later in the day another song "What about now" by Chris D. is he trying to tell me something and I can't see?!

I feel awful not having him there, not texting, meeting up, going to sushi together.

He texted me last night after he said that this is the last time I'll be hearing from him "Don't get mad at what I said, I have enough problems."

He's confusing me. But I know that he feels awful...like I do.

I want us to be back to being friends.

It's not impossible to be "just friends" with someone you are "madly in love" with, but for the one in love, it'll be painful whether or not you stop being friends or stay friends. It's always easier to walk away from a problem then have to look at it and be constantly reminded of how sure you are that you'll never be able to fix it into what you want. So it can happen, it's just not something that normally happens, nor is it easy. The best thing you can do is just wait and see if his feelings for you fade, and then repair the friendship. He likely didn't mean that it was going to be the last you heard of him, he was probably just deeply hurt, but give him time, and it is possible things will get back to normal. I'm not saying they will, but there is a chance, and it all depends on him.

that's probably not gonna happen. his heart's too twisted up, he'll spend his days either loving you to pieces or hating your guts. the least painful thing you could do would be to say sayonara and disappear from his life.

i'm guessing the "what about now" song is him saying, what if you really do love me and don't realize it? and "whatcha say" is about a guy who got caught cheating...

Not going to happen... He doesn't want to be friends, he likely never did. His emotions are tied up in you, and you rejected him... He probably feels lead on, and he's emotions are messing with him thinking clearly. You don't like him like he likes you, so he's going to grow to resent you. Friends is not an option.

It's so hard. I was the guy in this same exact situation. All they want to do is hang out. All I want to do is hold them, kiss them, and show her I care.

Sounds to me like he's fallen hard for you and he needs to grow up a bit and realize it isn't worth losing a good friend if they don't reciprocate your feelings.
