I grew up before the thong era.. when it became a thing. I can tell you this much.. Thongs, Strings, and Shorts... are a blessing for men... because before that it was pnaties for a grandma lol

Its hard for me to say since I don't have any kids, but I don't see what the problem is, its only underwear. Shit, even me as a guy wears mens thongs from time to time, because my girlfriend like ass more than me apparently.
I wear them because my bum doesn't fit in normal underwear, I have to pull them up all day because my bum/jeans pulls them down. I feel unhygienic and uncomfortable in normal underwear.
If I had a daughter I would definitely let her wear thongs and whatever she wanted I would give her my credit card and let her go wild I just want her to be popular and fit in
