The place where I live, guys being chain smoker isn't a big deal but if a girl is even holding a cigarette she is bad, indisciplined, mannerless, has no self-respect, is a tryhard hoe, and what not.
I'll share a conversation with my dad when I heard he was shaming girls who smoke.
Me: "Dad some people say that smoking is forbidden in Islam, others believe it's just discouraged, right?"
Dad: Yes.
Me: Then don't you think if it's forbidden, it is for both genders and if it's simply discouraged even then it is for both genders?
Fast forward, dad ended up scolding me telling me to shut up when I tried to explain to him that the bias is wrong.
There's nothing hot about smoking. It's just suicide.
Actually, some social circles do influence guys to smoke and it is a common thing here
It's responsibilities of parents to teach children that keep distance from "everyone" who 'smokes' or 'drinks'. And all people who smoke and drink can NEVER be friends. They are enemies.
Those "social circles" are the people that our society has to fight and stand up against.
Its just because people are irresponsible and (more importantantly) "indifferent" towards their society and its people , that such "social circles" have emerged.
Its also because of lack of education.
But people who are educated and smoke or drink are equivalent to garbage. They are garbage of our society.
And such social circles advocate smoking and drinking under the concept of "being modern".
These people are not being "modern" but theyre being "western".
Yes, liberalism is important. But RESTRAINT and self-control is also important. When we put any kind of restrain , even though it is for the betterment of society, some bad people in society
These bad people think that they are 'robbed off' their so called "freedom" and "choice". This creates a rebellion against some things that we should avoid doing.
As a society we must make sure that whatever change we are adopting is positive, good , or meant for betterment of our society.
A category of people who , we can call, "extereme liberals" always exist in every society who doesn't want any form of self-restrain.
And these extreme liberals shouldn't get support. I mean, dont let the rebellion begin before we feel the need to crush it.
Look at the western societies. They have no form of self-restrain. Excuses excuses and excuses. That's all that they have.
But this group of people and "social circles" that you are talking about have always existed. these people are the rebels. And the ideology that they are spreading is the rebellion. Good things against the bad ones.
So if we want to crush this rebellion. Its high time we should educate children about smoking, drink..
These category of people "extreme liberals" will slowly normalise all the immoral , unhealthy behaviour and we can't do anything about it.
Its human behaviour to take inspiration from people around them. But shouldn't we take inspiration about good things?

I agree that freedom and choice is important but we should be wise enough to decide the extent and limitations of freedom and choice.
And the difference between boys and gis is never going to end.
The real difference is males are dynamic and women are static.
In older days men like jesus mohammed buddha , jain , Sai , etc who lived in a world full of bad people who wanted wars and fight against each other. At that time, these men created beautiful things , morals and discipline and promoted self-restrain. And woman followed them. Slowly, women gained equal status and both men and women created a place where there are no wars. Everyone preaches peace.
But when we are living in the same society where peace is preached and disciple is followed by taking inspiration from older men. Today, these are men who are leading this rebellion against self-restrain.
If you ask me, men are leading again.
In old times , men leaded everyone to create good things. Now they are leading everyone to normalise everything like smoking , drinking, etc , which are all bad things.
And women are following them again...

"More" unattractive? I'll put it this way. I'm a guy. I like girls. It is a deal breaker if a girl smokes. Guys? I don't date them, that is the girls problem as to whether she considers that unattractive. Guys are already unattractive to me because they are guys. Every time I see an attractive woman smoking a cigarette it reminds me a 40-year-old yoga instructor I had whose face looked 60ish.
If you need your nicotine buzz, at least be smart enough to vape or use an e-cig so you avoid all the carcinogenic by-products created by the combustion process every time you light a cig.
I forgot to say the instructor had an amazing body, and it was hot yoga so I saw plenty of it. She had plenty going for her but couldn't kick the habit.

Cigarettes - Nasty smelling and no one looks cool smoking then.
Weed - Every kind I have smelled made me sick. No one looks cool doing it.
E- cigarettes - Alternative to cigarettes and no one looks cool smoking them.
Vape - Look ridiculous and everyone who I have seen use them smokes then just as much as people smoking cigarettes. No one looks cool with them.
Cigars - Nasty smelling and no one looks cool smoking then.
Pipes - The ones made for tobacco look cool but still smell bad.
Overall I do not like being around others while they smoke.
Personally I think smoking is just an instant no go. I’d never date a girl whom I knew was smoking, no matter how hot she is, and I actually got in a fight with my mom because she started after being clean for more than a decade. I’d figure girls who don’t smoke would be the same way. It’s not that smoking makes you a bad person, it’s just fucking disgusting
The poll needs to specify it's referring to cigarettes. "Smoking" is a broad term. Cig smoking isn't just unattractive, it's disgusting. Cigarettes are so gross and the smell sticks to everything and makes people and their homes and possessions smell like shit and it somehow just doesn't even register for the smoker. *Non-cigarette smoking isn't unattractive at all. Just CIGARETTES.

Personally, I'm intrigued watching girls smoking poison. I'm not attracted to the girls I'm thinking about but the insufflating or chemistry of the fire's energy yield and how it transforms the chemical makeup then alters their brains, facial expressions, behavioral patterns, and pupil size (sometimes other places on them become extremely stimulated) stimulates me on some level. Vaping has a cyberpunk vibe so inevitably it appeals to me. Intricate dab rigs are really cool to watch. I think any woman becomes more attractive after a hit or two of cannabis. I always enjoy the smell of cannabis (assuming it's not from Mexico). Cigs, though, -I dunno if there's anything that disgusts me more... seeing a beautiful person pull out a pack of cigs... I'm 33% closer to the verge of tears.
I'd say women just cause many are not very classy or aware of where they spew the smoke. Its like they never have heard the basic idea of not being up wind. One of the reasons as a social smoker I dont share with girls much other than the ones who I know aren't going to blow their smoke in my face.
And by social smoker I smoke when I got company who will join me otherwise I keep them mostly as bartering tools XD.
Smoking looks aesthetic in photos but the reality is that its disgusting. It smells bad, it tastes gross, it downgrades peoples looks and health. Gender does not matter here, smoking is just so distasteful.
Smoking is really bad for the health. It never leaves the body. Most lung ailments or other diseases are cause of smoking and from second-hand smoking.. Toxins from smoking can be transferred to an infant in the womb. In result, you bore a child with a disorder or disability.
It's their choice not your choice. People look unattractive drunk, weird styles and what else that is different then you. Before you judge someone as to how they look find out the reason why. Trust me there are other reasons besides being bad habit or an addiction.

The question does lump a lot of very different activities under one overly-generalized term. Unless you believe "smoking" = repetitiously sticking something into your mouth while your lungs are still alive and functioning then it's really unspecific. When a doctor with a PhD asks if you smoke and you go on to tell them 30+ seconds of details of your daily smoking consumption, when the doctor pieces together you were never talking about cigarettes, they alert you non-verbally (some simply cannot register these subtle nuances of body language, facial expression, the long heavy breath of frustration they exhale, the eye-roll, etc.) that they're pretty annoyed you've wasted their time (30+ seconds is a lot of $/TIME when you're a *doctor) because they're asking about cigarettes (the smoke that causes cancer), not cannabis (smoke that fights cancer) with its mile-long list of benefits and non-existent list of toxicity warning labels stamped on every side. Agreed. My point was that societal views on this particular issue are driven largely by what women and men find attractive / unattractive in the opposite sex, a fact that can lost when we discuss societal views in general.
