Everyone can improve or worsen their looks, but how much they can depends on the individual. An average person may have a chance competing with above average and kinda nice looking people if working extremely hard. What someone can achieve naturally or are born as may be things you either have to work hard for to get or even "fake" a little bit. Not everyone are able to "fake" it regardless of how big bank account they've because of genetics or severity, but many can.
A person who's severely deformed wouldn't be able to look as good as easily as an average or above person. There's a few physically deformed people who can work up their attraction with blood lines because if they're naturally beauties experiencing accidents they may easily pass on their beauty genes onto their children making them more attractive. It only works for those one wanting to get biological children. Since most people doesn't get children for shallow reasons like beauty, it's unlikely in practice although highly possible in theory.
Some people have nice facial features and some "good looks" genes, but have to change their lifestyle and style before actually looking good looking. In my opinion Matt Timmons is a good example on it. He always had dark curly nice hair and decent proportions in his face, but when he worked out and changed his wardrobe he turned from a goofy/nerdy-like Disney star to a very handsome man.
Matthew Lewis, Gwilym Pugh and Pål Sverre Hagen are examples on average looking people turning interesting and head turning because of they changed their clothing style, grooming, worked out etc. There's fans saying it's a high possibility all of them got some cosmetic work done, but the celebrities themselves haven't mentioned or confirmed it, so nobody really knows. There's no one denying Lewis wearing braces and it's quite common for people to do in their early teen ages. Even David Beckham got his teeth done and his face has changed through the years too. He achieved high cheekbone shaping his beard too.
Actors like Christian Bale and Jared Leto have changed a lot in the different movie roles. They're mostly average men, but because of a lot of good work and good acting skills they're able to convince the audience they're either extremely handsome or extremely unattractive.
Celebrities like Adriana Lima, Eva Green, Katy Perry etc. seems mostly natural and looked good most part of their lives. Apart from a little bit makeup, some fashionable outfits and hair dye they've most likely not done much more. To me they're natural beauties changing their style.
Eva Green before she dyed her hair. Choose a kid pic to show you her face is natural:
Not everybody can look like an A-list athlete or runway model, but I believe it is possible for pretty much anyone to appear attractive with effort. Genetics play a part for sure especially during childhood/puberty, but ultimately anybody has the potential. It's a matter of:
- Staying in shape
- Finding a hairstyle and facial hairstyle (for guys) that suits your head/face shape
- Keeping your body healthy and moderating stuff like alcohol, junk food, drugs, etc.
- Putting effort into personal hygiene and grooming
- Wearing clothes that fit well with your body and colours that match your skin tone
- Having good confidence, exerting positive vibes
- Keeping a good physical posture
Absolutely, undoubtedly. From wherever you start, no matter how you look initially, you always look better when you are a refined version of yourself. When you are healthier, fitter, have clearer skin, shinier hair, pearlier whites, your diet and sleep is better, you're more well-groomed and well-dressed in clothes that flatter you, you got a haircut that suits your face.
I feel like once you are a more refined version of yourself, things that made you feel ugly earlier will start to seem like they don't matter as much anymore. And confidence is definitely important and I do believe that putting the effort will eventually refine you mentally as well because you will start feeling more comfortable in yourself. You will slowly get to realize how hot you can be in your own skin.
Maybe they could improve from their former selves (e. g., if they’re obese they can get fit, straighten teeth with braces, lose acne, fix their style and hair) but they cannot change their physical features etc, unless ofc they get plastic surgery. If you have ugly facial features (like a big nose) then there’s nothing you can do and if your overall face is unattractive you’re gonna be unattractive forever. 🤷♀️

yes with enough effort and money, anyone can look attractive. Don't forget confidence
It all depends on how you dress. First you should identify what your face shape, body shape, hair colour, eye colour, etc are and find certain outfits, accessories, hairstyles, etc that suit you the best. There are also creams to help with skincare and if you are really bad, there's always plastic surgery.
I think you need to be at least average to begin with. If the person is truly hideous, no amount of effort would be able to change their look from ugly to attractive. The most they can go is average or just nice looking, unless they are willing to go under the knife.
Agree. Some 5,5/10 can pass as a 7/10 although they're just a 5,5/10 because of a lot of effort. Usually surgeries are needed, but maybe not always.
People changing their looks a lot:

They're not ugly and never said it, but they're average. I think Jared Leto, Gwilym Pugh, Pål Sverre Hagen and Christian Bale are average looking men who appear very physically attractive with a lot of hard work. The dude from Zack and Cody is a little bit of both though. He did hard work too, but he had more nice features, just that they were less visible when overweight.
I found throughout puberty that focusing on health, proper body posture and fitness has mainly been a huge boost to my physical attractiveness.
It's possible with hard work but there's kind of a time window for that to happen. Mainly pre-puberty.
Interesting more women think that you can't change attractiveness while more men think you can... I believe you can with effort: exercise, attention to skin, hair, make up, eye contacts instead of glasses, etc. However, in some cases it may be only temporary such as using a lot of make up to look decent but not looking good when it's off... but good thing the physical isn't the only measure of attraction.
@HereIbe It's few where there's that much of a dramatic difference, not that it would stop men from wanting to have sex anyway.
@HereIbe Real classy.
Yes anyone be attractive with effort but in nature , personality , behaviour yes it is also true that if you have money you can be more attractive by clothes , styling your hair , cars etc.. but if you really want to be attractive then put some more effort in you personality , behaviour and nature
No I don't think so. My nose is awful and there isn't anything I can do about it. I don't plan to change it with plastic surgery. I've accepted my looks.
Women is going to be women, findings flaws in their appearance that only exists in their own minds. ;)
Of course.
-Proper diet
-Proper style
-Proper grooming/scent
-Moderate exercise
It is possible.
Yes I wake up looking like a grizzly sand person wash my hair shave if I have too brush teeth then boom I’m me again and smexy (I think)
Conventionally attractive? With plastic surgery involved, probably. Well, maybe not everyone could become attractive, but definitely average.
Nothing's stopping you from being the best version of yourself. If you want to be "conventionally attractive" like the people in magazines, probably not. All the effort in the world won't give you better genes.
Realistically, no. There are some people that are just plain-old physically morbid. Sad but true.
The dude in the picture looks more goofy at an old age, but women get attracted to weird shit...
It's because of women can't afford being picky in looks because there's not many handsome or good looking men out there.
It's true most people from both sexes are average, but I've seen more nice looking young women out there compared to men. In some areas in the world there's 100 cute women per handsome men meaning that you may see 100 cute women, but only 1 handsome man. So you may only see 2 handsome men if there's ca. 200 cute women.
I can be attracted to men too if they are more than 7/10.
No, I believe people are born ugly and there is not "ugly duckling" blossom
How would you explain the "ugly duckling" thing then where people are relatively ugly when growing up and turning nice looking when adults?
You can always optimize what you have. Whether or not that makes you ojectively attractive or not depends on what you've had to work with.
Yes, but it is not worth your entire life savings and all of your free time for years to do so.
Attractiveness requires self-care and a lot of talk skills.
Effort, trick photography, Photoshop. Might even work for me.
Male attractiveness is dictated by genetic make-up like facial symmetry/aesthetics, height and genes which can't be changed.
If a guy isn't good looking and tall then the only way for him to be attractive would be money.
It's not only based on genetics, but also lifestyle.
No, people who are victims of acid attacks can never look like how they were before; no matter how much money they spend.
True. A born severe deformed person can't either. But an average looking 5,5/10 can pass as a 7/10 with hard work.
