Is it racist/appropriation for a non-black person to lay their edges?

I have a crazy amount of baby hairs along my hairline and I usually just leave them be or use vaseline to slick them back sometimes. I've been seeing mostly black ladies laying their baby hairs like this and i I think it looks cute and wanna try it out. I'm worried if it would be as bad as a non-black person wearing cornrows or box braids.

The entire reason "laying baby hairs" is a thing for black people is bc the hair texture is different and you need product to lay them flat. It's not about being "racist", it just doesn't suit already straight hair?
