It really depends. I grew up in an Asian household where it was an expectation to take off your shoes, however if someone had foot issues to had to wear shoes for support we did not mind (as long as they weren’t muddy).
Well i pay too much for my shoes to walk in noticeable dirt. I walk on the concrete and void gum stuck to it. It hardly snows here (maybe once every few years) and the mud is in the woods or rainy areas. So once again no prob for me and my shoes. So no we dont take our shoes off here
Not much for nature then? Besides who wants to sandpaper their floor with dust stuck on shoes. It's simply more wear and tear allowing shoes that been outside inside.
Well I assume you have fixed it up over that time period. But you must spend more time cleaning. If you are going to keep it so clean that it doesn't wear extra.
No we haven't. No matter where we live, we keep it clean. Shoes were never an issue. Floors only got dirty if we spilled a beverage. Furniture only got dirty if dust grew and then of course u dust it. Its all in how u take care of yourself
All I know is that the few meter inside my door is always much much dirtier then the rest of the house and if I allowed shoes inside that gradient would go all over the place instead of stay just there. Gravel and dirt would create scratches and wear down the floor surface. Because that whats on our roads when there is no snow. The gravel and salt that prevent icy streets and they are very slow on cleaning that up.
So I don't vacuum very frequently. Definitely way less than I should, so I don't mind when people wear shoes here. That said, I prefer a cleaner house even though I can't be arsed to keep it that way, and if I've just vacuumed, unless you're only staying 5 minutes, you better take off your shoes, lol.
There is a reason I have a shoe/boot brush outside the door. There is also a door mat, water faucet very close to my front door. Come on in for I have no carpet for a reason, it's all tile and can be swept and mopped pretty easy. Just don't put your shoes on the furniture
When I had carpet we were always very strict at leaving the shoes at the door. For a couple of reasons, I feel it instills good examples, especially for kids. It was only once we moved into a house that has mainly wooden floors that we relaxed the shoe policy lol.
Ensuring your child stops, takes off, and leaves their shoes at the doors each time they come into the house, teaches them respect for the things they have, good hygiene and cleanliness.
No, unless its a party, shoes are left by the door and I have a small tub of slippers, flip-flops, and fuzzy socks for guests to use when they visit. After being used, they go in the dirty tub to be washed for the next guest.
In my house, you have to remove your shoes before coming in. We just tell our guest to wash their feet in the bathroom. Me and my family do not like it when guests wear shoes inside the house, especially my Grandmother. She would go crazy.
I know, but when most people say Asian, people always think about the Chinese or Japanese and similar looking. Also, Indians have always been called as Indians so we are not accustomed to being called Asians.
We have a shoe closet at the front door with a bit of wooden floor surrounding it. The floor beyond is white carpet so we ask people to remove their shoes before coming further inside to prevent having to wash it more than necessary.
I'd rather they wear there shoes unless they are like work shoes from a greasy restraunt or construction site. Much rather have them track trace amounts of dirt than their potentially unclean sweaty foot oils
Yeah, in the common areas of the house at least- we have tile and hardwood throughout our main floor, with carpet only on the stairs and bedrooms upstairs. In the winter with snow stuck in your shoes, please take them off though.
The norm in my country is to take off the shoes before entering the house. The floor would get dirtier twice as fast and I don't like to vacuum. I don't wear shoes inside so guests will have to follow that custom too
I never had a problem with people keeping shoes on. And I so agree bout not wanting to smell Stanky feet, cuz I've had that problem with people before 🤢🤮
No. You step on a bunch of dirty and bacteria eventhough it's not visible to your eyes so I'd rather have them taking their shoes off. Plus I have a white rug in the living room, no time to get that dirty.
I'm not materialistic about floors. My guests should be comfortable & secure in my homes knowing I won't impose shoes-off rules on them just because I'm concerned about floors.
Not going to have people inconvenienced by removing shoes plus it could get really smelly. I won't go anywhere that I have to remove my shoes. Im disabled and its too much of a pain in the ass to do so. If you're More worried about your carpet then provide shoe covers or just stop being so uptight
Don’t care either way I take mine off at the end of the day and almost never wear shoes in my house unless I just got back from somewhere or plan on going somewhere.
the fact that I only wear boots probably has something to do with that.
I’m not trying to be trying to be smelling feet and trying to figure out who got them stinky toes. Keep the shoes on removal isn’t required. There’s a mat at the door to get the dirt off!!
I try to keep my home as clean as possible. So I ain't letting you walk all over my clean floor and bring in outside dirt. Plus way more comfortable with no shoes on.
A lot of americans, black americans in my case have two types of shoes... work boots that you of course remove and then your kicks which you spend like $100-300 on and keep them clean every step of the way. We dont track in noticeable dirt because we spent too much to risk getting our shit dirty. So no Paul, we dont remove our shoes and no one here at least has ever asked us too... that goes for my white/black/Asian wtc friends here. And we are not allowed to put our feet on the table, shoes or not. We do put our feet on the couch if in the comfort of our own home but when in our own home then of course we’re barefoot. A lot of the guests are athletic and for the love of the Lord need to keep their shoes on becayse no one wants to smell feet. Keep your shoes on when visiting here unless you're spending the night
Lol you see. Wearing shoes all day make your feet smell. They smell because you never take them off. Never give a chance for your feet to breath. And usually Asian cultures have indoor slippers not shoes.
I didn't say my feet smell. I said some of the guests do. And people dont keep their shoes on all day. They takenthem off at their own house. Not at mine

we would just mop up afterwards to be honest.
Oh i see
No shoes stay by the door. Unless your a carpenter and is renovating my house. Then it's already dirty and you need them.
Are you Asian?
No I am swedish. And we don't want people to drag in mud, snow and dirt into our homes.

They make “welcome mats” for a reason. Clean your feet before u walk in
Not good enough. Not even with double sets one outside and one inside would help because the carpet will be dirty if you don't clean it all the time.
I dont know whag kinda crap y'all walk theu over there but people here haven't removed shoes for 25+ years and the house still looks nice and clean.
Well I assume you have fixed it up over that time period. But you must spend more time cleaning. If you are going to keep it so clean that it doesn't wear extra.

Lmao

Exactly

I know more people who actually get mad when u take shoes off without permission
Ensuring your child stops, takes off, and leaves their shoes at the doors each time they come into the house, teaches them respect for the things they have, good hygiene and cleanliness.
You're probably leaving out that your feet stink lol
No, unless its a party, shoes are left by the door and I have a small tub of slippers, flip-flops, and fuzzy socks for guests to use when they visit. After being used, they go in the dirty tub to be washed for the next guest.
Are you Asian?
Nope. About as caucasian as they come...

Are you Asian?
I am Indian, but i can understand the confusion.
Indians are Asian tho
I know, but when most people say Asian, people always think about the Chinese or Japanese and similar looking. Also, Indians have always been called as Indians so we are not accustomed to being called Asians.
I say Asian cause usually if i call someone on GAG indian then they fuss about being turkish, pakistanian, arabian etc
ohhhhhh, then i guess i am Asian. Dealing with all the ethnicity and bullshit is rather exhausting. So i am Asian now.
We have a shoe closet at the front door with a bit of wooden floor surrounding it. The floor beyond is white carpet so we ask people to remove their shoes before coming further inside to prevent having to wash it more than necessary.
Everyone keeps mentioning white carpet. I've seen tan carpet but never white. Thats a new one
Believe me, I wish white carpet didn’t exist. When I inherit my family home within the next year or two that white carpet is going to be history!
I'd rather they wear there shoes unless they are like work shoes from a greasy restraunt or construction site. Much rather have them track trace amounts of dirt than their potentially unclean sweaty foot oils
Lmao i agree
Yeah, in the common areas of the house at least- we have tile and hardwood throughout our main floor, with carpet only on the stairs and bedrooms upstairs. In the winter with snow stuck in your shoes, please take them off though.
Well ok i guess the snow makes sense. We only get snow like once or twice every 2-3 years here lol. So no biggie
The norm in my country is to take off the shoes before entering the house. The floor would get dirtier twice as fast and I don't like to vacuum. I don't wear shoes inside so guests will have to follow that custom too
I never had a problem with people keeping shoes on. And I so agree bout not wanting to smell Stanky feet, cuz I've had that problem with people before 🤢🤮
Yes like im shocked so many people of non Asian culture dont allow shoes
No. You step on a bunch of dirty and bacteria eventhough it's not visible to your eyes so I'd rather have them taking their shoes off. Plus I have a white rug in the living room, no time to get that dirty.
But in that case wouldn't we have to strip off all our germy clothes
And whoever comes inside my house does
I'm not materialistic about floors. My guests should be comfortable & secure in my homes knowing I won't impose shoes-off rules on them just because I'm concerned about floors.
Ikrr

Yea i think its silly that non-asian culture people are asking for you to remove your shoes
I won't remove my shoes. I'll leave before removing my shoes
Same
Don’t care either way I take mine off at the end of the day and almost never wear shoes in my house unless I just got back from somewhere or plan on going somewhere.
the fact that I only wear boots probably has something to do with that.
I mean of course we take em off in our own house but do u make your guests?
Nah I leave it up to them, wether they want to or not.
I’m not trying to be trying to be smelling feet and trying to figure out who got them stinky toes. Keep the shoes on removal isn’t required. There’s a mat at the door to get the dirt off!!
Lmao! Yes exactly 🤣
I try to keep my home as clean as possible. So I ain't letting you walk all over my clean floor and bring in outside dirt. Plus way more comfortable with no shoes on.
Apparently in murica it's normal to bring outside dirt in. Lying in beds with shoes, or the sofa. That's just nasty.

Lol sorry I didn't mean you.
I generally don't care, except if they have really dirty shoes.
Some people always take their shoes off, but I normally won't ask.
Oh i see
I do allow them but I always take mine off at the door so respectful people staying for a while will ask or just take off their shoes too.
Lol i dont know anyone here who even asks people to remove em
