I heard of a law like this in Rajashtan, India, in a city ' s town square. The females crossing it must remove whatever they wear on their feet ( usually slippers ). It is said it comes from a time when men used to hold council there and at that time women used to be barefoot all the time everywhere.

The thing is that no one questions it, not the men, not the women. I suppose there is logic behind that as women love to be barefoot ( why else would they go around the house barefoot all the time, even outdoors? ) as it makes them feel cute and sexy and men love seeing barefoot women. So why isn ' t this rule enforced all around the city and in many other places around the world? Why isn ' t a barefoot fashion introduced? How long do we have to be slaves of the torture devices called " high heels " and of foot wear companies? A barefoot girl in a formal outfit looks a thousand times better. Why the said companies don ' t make foot jewelry and barefoot sandals instead ( sandals without a sole )? It was in the past a custom in Europe and in the western world that it was anathema to go in public ( at least farther than around the house ) without a hat or cap, both for men and women. That doesn ' t exist anymore nowadays in spite of head wear companies. Why does that not yet happen about foot wear.

Also, don ' t get me started on health risks. You don ' t wear gloves and construction worker helmets all the time, do you?

The reason many people have ugly feet is because improper foot wear that some even stubbornly wear much longer than they are forced by society ( even at home ). Yes, I am forced by society to wear shoes just like I was forced to show my face before the pandemic. Now I love that they made the mask compulsory so I can wear it in peace ( I used to wear a mask long before the pandemic with much less social acceptance, which I hated ). I ' d love the same approach with foot wear.

For the same reason Iike mask becoming compulsory around here. I wore a mask before the pandemic for social barrier ( same reason I wear sunglasses ). But it wasn ' t really a thing and sometimes drew more attention. Now everybody has to wear them ( otherwise they get fined ) so I can wear it in peace. Same approach could be with feet. If I want to go barefoot I don ' t want to be given a hard time about it, so such a rule would be perfect. Besides smell and pain comes from improper foot wear which is most foot wear. 😉🤗

I personally think it should be a choice if people want to wear something on their feet or not. At least make a law where it's ok to be barefoot in stores and certain places, unless there's a sign that says you must wear shoes in the building for safety reasons. I go barefoot all of the time. It just means I have to take better care of my feet and their hygiene. From what I've heard though, where there was footwear in the past, if you were serving a punishment you'd have to take off your wear for it. As being barefoot was suppose to be seen as a humiliating aspect and shows you aren't as civilized. So that does play a role in why we wear shoes and socks on our feet (to an extent).

um... what you're saying litterally doesn't make any sense.. who tf wants to go barefoot all the time. like seriously do you not know how fucking dirty the ground is, and how uncomfortable walking barefoot on many surfaces is. not to mention it's dangerous for your feet and you can't really run or walk quickly or anything if needed. besides it's against people's freedom to ban them from wearing something, especially something as essential as shoes. Well I go barefoot outdoors when I can, in my yard, at other people ' s places, tried it in public too with very negative reactions. Why would I want it? Because I like it, love it actually, from personal experience is doable ( when I tried it I walked quite a long distance with no other discomfort than people ' s reactions ) and kind of got the same reason I like masks were made mandatory. I used to wear masks long before the corona virus, one of the main reason being social barrier, though at times I felt self conscious / like an idiot. Now I can wear them in peace. Why do I want it only banned in women? For polarity or for the same reason I don ' t want to see a dude, especially a very masculine one in a dress ( and don ' t even start an argument on robes and tunics that are worn by men, you know what I mean ) and even if masculine looking men in dresses were socially acceptable and common, or if female and male clothes would be very similar or if only unisex clothes existed, I would feel very sad. Besides bare feet spell youthful innocence, vulnerability, humility, submission etc, why would I want a guy expressing that? Guys that I admire express power ( not necessarily physical ) and status. Power and status don ' t mix well with bare male feet.

Believe it or not, there are males (like me) who couldn't care less about "power" and "status", but I still wouldn't go barefoot because the idea is insane. We wear shoes for the very good reason that there are many dangerous things lying on the ground (like nails, broken glass) that can result in serious injuries if you're not wearing shoes.

Also thesexes should be treated equal if there is no valid reason for not doing so. So the men should be held to the same requirements.

But we are a forced to wear shoes, both men and women by judgement and as I heard, in the US, even by businesses ( including public transport ). In the countries I was it wasn ' t banned by businesses and public transport but not at all well received it ignored either. Quite the contrary. And if people make it their business to control what I am forced to wear even if I want to go barefoot outside, then I need a law imposing the contrary and forcing it to be socially acceptable. Yes in the US it is the law to wear shoes in many but definitely not all businesses. I believe its for sanitary reasons. No one is requiring you to wear shoes out in the public park, at the beach or even walking down the street (although why would you want to) and unfortunately no one has to accept your social choices. Besides that there is no law that bans bare feet in businesses. That is a myth and it speaks tons of the nature of Americans ( as there are tons of business, therefore tons of business owners aka tons of people that share the same opinion and want to force others to wear shoes ). If I would live there I would rather go on hunger strike than to patronize any such business ( assuming I couldn ' t find a food vendor kiosk or a street food vendor that can ' t force me to wear shoes on the public domain ). I just said where I live now, Punjab, India, if you must know, businesses DO NOT ban bare feet and the law DOES NOT either. But people act like it ' s not allowed, for what reason I do not know, but they do. That is what annoys the hell out of me. If they would fucking ignore me on the street I could care less if a store would ban bare feet ( which they don ' t in the first place ). There are many things about them that I hate too, those shalwar pants for example, I consider them the opposite of taste, but I ignore them and don ' t give them a hard time about it, telling them to wear something nicer. Well what bothers me about that " no bare feet " rule I keep hearing about from barefooters in the US is that it states " by the order of the health department " which is a big fat lie. It ' s like I would be a xenophobic bitch and put a sign on the entrance of a business I would own saying " no foreigners by the order of the state department "when the correct sign should read " no foreigners because the owner is a xenophobic bitch ". About entering someone ' s house I can always wash my feet before entering as I should anyway, because when I ' m forced to wear foot wear in public ( most of the time ) they collect dust anyway and if I wore closed shoes ( which I hate the most in hot weather ) my feet would stink and be full of bacteria, so they would still need washing whatever the case and thinking any foot wear would keep them clean and sterile is beyond stupid for the reasons stated above.

Well, with snow I never tried.

Wet grass, I love it. You won ' t catch me with shoes on a grass carpet that I know won ' t hide " surprises ) such as poop.

Desert sand I also never tried, but the climate in Punjab is arid sub - tropical, which is similar to desert, so I walked on hot sand in this climate, it was a bit hot but not unbearable and at times it even felt nice, as my feet are quite cold naturally.
