I’m almost certain that Natalie Portman is, in fact, not a fictional character. “Padme”, yes! But you are not attracted to “Padme’s” abs, they belong to Ms. Portman. (Well, they did back in the ‘90s).
Why though? Because they don’t have the same flaws that real humans have? MLK was a flawed man, but that doesn’t make him less inspirational, or Ghandi, or even Mother Theresa? people are flawed, but knowing someone attained greatness in spite of their flaws…. Somehow makes that greatness more inspirational, because now maybe a flawed person like “me” can attain that same level of greatness in my life! Worth a thought, no?
That is true but I don't know why non fictional characters never really appeal to me. But even the fictional characters that i aspire to also have flaws just as any real person might have
Riiight but you don’t aspire to be anything like that asshole right? He was a genocidal maniac who killed more people than Hitler could have dreamed of. Also, can you just say “REAL PEOPLE “ or just “PEOPLE” instead of “non-fictional character” because a non fictional character is actually a thing. When writing biographies often there will be three of four people in one’s life that although they made a difference, there’s nothing much to write about, so the author creates an amalgam, a non-fictional character that never existed, but everything they say is 100% true, it was just said by three or four other separate people. So I think, maybe it’s just better to say “real people” going forward.
Sure i will say real people instead lol but yea thats when Anakin turned to the dark side hence he was not perfect and had flaws. But everything he did he did for love and to protect Padme. How far would you go to protect your loved ones? And thats where the whole fear turns to anger turns to hate and then turns to suffering comes from. But yes i do admire and look up to Anakin even though he wasn't perfect and committed many sins but in the end he was the hero and brought balance back to the force and proved he still had some good in him
You know what, I’m sure that’s all true. I honestly don’t know enough about it to have any kind of discussion about any one character. I’ve been lucky enough to have met a lot of the actors involved in the making of Star Wars over the years because of my dad… some of them are nice, most are not! The only true gentleman and a genuinely nice guy was Pedro, when I was on the set of Mandalorian! But I truly don’t know enough about the lore to debate it with you (I Googled most of it.) But that’s not very honest of me! My point was that there are plenty of real people to admire or emulate. Just the adversity they overcame and went on to greatness. Seeing their sacrifice, and knowing that the world is a better place today because they were in it! Rosa Parks, Oskar Schindler, Desmond Thomas Doss (Google HIM) or even Wang Wei Lin, the 19 y/o who stood in front of a tank at Tiananmen Square! You don’t need movie villains to see the complexity of the human spirit, it’s all around you every day!
@vald9inches By the way, you will not be surprised to learn that Wang Wei Lin (tankman) who, alone, stood in front of a column of tanks in 1989 in Tiananmen Square, China was arrested and executed for his actions. The 19 y/o archeology student is the subject of conflicting reports. While some reports state he was executed for his crimes “against the people” a few days after the event, a U. S. Government official claimed he was executed three months after the student led protests for freedom and democracy in China!
@CrazyGirl2 Correction - You mean Darth Vader. Anakin and Vader were two very different people. WHy else did Palpatine try so hard to erase his past and change him? I mean, it's like someone before and after a mental illness. Also, Stalin killed more during WW2 than Hitler. If you win the war you write the textbooks.
My father invented something that helps makes digital movie cameras better, and he and his brother wrote some software that made CGI look more realistic. He now works for Disney. Thats why he moved from England.

Fictional characters are the best

True true lol but in general i do like fictional characters more and not for sex appeal but for character and inspiration
Why though? Because they don’t have the same flaws that real humans have? I mean just as an example from the above Anakin aka Darth Vader had many flaws in his character but also some good traits.

@CrazyGirl2 correction - early and mis 2000s, but I can't say where they're at now.
@CrazyGirl2 Correction - You mean Darth Vader. Anakin and Vader were two very different people. WHy else did Palpatine try so hard to erase his past and change him? I mean, it's like someone before and after a mental illness.

Yes, you're 100% right.
@CrazyGirl2 Hol' up, who all did you meet-
My father invented something that helps makes digital movie cameras better, and he and his brother wrote some software that made CGI look more realistic. He now works for Disney. Thats why he moved from England.
