I'm from a culture where the classic beauty standard is dark hair contrasting with skin. Help me understand why so many women dye it so light, especially in western countries. Is it just for fashion or does it attract more men?
lol, natural blond is beautiful, but too many dark haired women ruining their hair and turning it into straw or hay. my hair is reddish brown and i have blue-green eyes and people admire the stark contrast/makes my eyes stand out more. and it is just so sad when i see these fat middle aged women dying their hair blond to look "sexy." lol. if anything i think older women look better with dark hair as it makes them look more youthful, while the blond is just too similar to white hair in my opinion and makes them look older. blond is nice for younger women and natural blond is always better than bleach blond. so long as you have a nice ass, are thin and have a beautiful face, i think most men will notice you. your hair doesn't need to be blond, brown, blue or rainbow colours.
The US is kind of a mixed bag when it comes to hair color. I've never noticed blonde being considered any more conventionally attractive than other colors (though blonde and brunette seem most common), though some people do prefer it.
Since we're such a mixed bag, there are several different colors and styles considered attractive and fashionable, and a lot of girls just like to experiment and try something new. I've noticed that some dye their hair different shades depending on the season as well.
I wouldn't say being blonde is more girly/attractive than being brunette or anything like that. The best way to put it, I'd say is that a lot of different places have their own trend of what is considered attractive at certain times. I know a lot of guys who like blondes more, or brunettes more, or even redheads too. Really depends on where you are and what people are into.
Natural blonde hair is rare, and rarity is often considered more favorable. In western culture, blonde hair is also often associated with purity, as you may see in depictions of heroes and angels. So this subconsciously affects many people's views on blonde hair.
I have dark hair (black and dark brown). Honestly, I think people with dark hair look beautiful. Blondes or light colours wear off easily and aren't as pretty or healthy. But, it's your choice. Do whatever you think is good for you. Just make sure you feel good about it. Don't do it just cuz others do it.
Fashion makes women change up their look. We also do it to see if the new look suits us better, cause we’re always on the look out for improvement. I feel blond highlights are more popular than the total blond 360 look. But some men think highlights are the same thing as a full head-they’re not.
It 100% attracts more men on a purely superficial level. Men know that any woman dying their hair blonde wants male attention and that in itself stirs men's natural instinct to want to pursue that woman. Plus there are all the socially constructed reasons why blondes get more attention, i. e. the way they are placed on a pedestal by Hollywood and the adult industry, Playboy etc, which is exported to the world through American culture. It's really no wonder why blondes are viewed as so sexually attractive and promiscuous.
I think blondes get more attention because of the lightness of their hair, and the stereotype about blondes being fun. My friend gets way more attention when she is blonde than when she is brunette or ginger. But I don’t think the hair colour itself is prettier or any less pretty than other hair colours.
I prefer darker hair on men. I have black hair and fair skin, so I like the contrast, and it goes very well. However, going ‘blonde’ wouldn’t really suit my face. It’s just people’s preference is all. Some may prefer natural blondes, whilst others may prefer darker hair.
I’ve mostly had crushes on men who have darker hair. Blonde men can be quite attractive as well, but I lean more toward brown/black hair
Nah. My natural hair is quite dark brown color, I went platinum blonde because I just love the look of it and because I like the pale skin/light hair combination.
I've received both compliments and lines of "you looked better with dark hair", "dark hair is so much better", "it doesn't suit you at all".
Interesting question. My friend likes brunettes, my other buddy has a thing for redheads and I like blondes. Dark has its charms as well. There may be some cultural or societal pressure depending on geographical and racial influences, but I think it’s overwhelmingly individual preference.
Haircolor has nothing to do with being more girly, anyway the picture of the man in your profile is a complete turn off. By the way Guys don’t wanna flirt with you like that seeing a male picture in your profile. Maybe that’s why you’re doing it to back them off
The thing is quite trivial. Most white babies are born with blond hair or their first hair is blond. Generally, children's blond hair turns brown more or less quickly over the years. Blond hair is generally associated with youth. A blonde woman is considered more attractive as she looks younger and therefore more prone to reproduction.
I'm honestly curious with this too. All the girls and women in my city and school dye their hair blonde and it's brunette. Like what's so fun about blonde? They all have dyed blonde hair for the most part.
No it's not in my opinion. To me a darker hair frame the face better and make them more attractive. Especially on light skinned people. Blonde on dark skin people just looks weird.
Depends on where in the world you are, for which hair color men prefer. The thing about blonde hair is that 98% of it comes from a bottle. Only 2% of world are naturally blond. When I dated one, it was awesome, especially down there!
Dark hair looks washed out on me so blonde suits me pretty well. I think all hair colors are attractive just depends on the person and what suits them most.
When a kid, I was used to calling blonde women "spaghetti hair girls," and since then I feel myself much more attracted to women of color. I think that white women are kinda disgusting.

I found the opposite is true. Guys like dark hair more but that is probably because most girls have dark hair. Anyone saying guys like blondes needs to most. Guys like pretty girls. That is it. Don't sit here telling me guys like white girls when most white guys are obsessed with Asian girls.
yeah... "Hair color" is last on my list of things I care about... sorry. So many things that are more important... good heart, giving, kind, sweet, good cook, lol...

I think most people like to gravitate to what they think suits them better. People with paler complexions tend to suit blonde hair more and a little sunkissed glow does look nice.
@WhiteBoyChill: Silly reason as some white guys don't like the color blonde hair. I'm not black because my parents nor grandparents aren't black. I'm mestizo.
