Girls, how do you prevent period smell?

Whenever I'm on mine it's clear that I'm on my period and I have the smell when I go out in public. Do you notice this too? What are ur trips for preventing it?

I never really had that issue, to the point where it’s a big concern or worry. However, I know that your pH level rises when on your period, and it can cause a different smell because of menstrual blood. It happens to all of us, there’s always a slight difference in smell.


Just try and do regular hygiene. There are feminine flushable wipes that you can use after the restroom, remember to change your tampon/pads regularly OR more frequently, take more showers, and wear breathable underwear during the day and at night.


I always recommend these hygiene wipes because yes, I know that sometimes your period can leak into undesirable areas and it can cause smell! The feminine wipes can keep that clean and leave a “fresher” smell. Changing your pads/tampons (or whatever period catching device you use lol) can prevent smells. When you wear something for a long time that is saturated in period blood, it will cause a certain smell if it isn’t being changed often. Showering regularly on your period is a no brainer. You can’t NOT shower because you will end up smelling because of sweat, BO, and period blood, etc. Wearing breathable underwear during the day and night can prevent a bunch of sweat and just overall odors in the area. Our private place is a dark, warm, wet area so it definitely can collect bacteria that causes odors on top of the natural pH levels from period blood. Wearing cotton panties is your best bet!

Personally I have never, ever suffered with such problems.

You could try wiping yourself with a femfresh tissue or something similar, when you change your tampon or pad.

Other than that, just concentrate a bit more on your personal hygiene... Washing, showering etc.

I'm not a female, I can't say that I've ever been able to smell when a woman was on her period

Never had that issue but I do sit around naked (like on a towel) while on my period to make sure that area gets air. Gotta air it out or it will smell

maybe daily showers?
I personally have never had that issue, but maybe try to shower more during your period?
