Why do the white people like have a sun-tan when the rest of the world wants to have a white skin?

I don't know much about the Europeans, but the North American white population loves to tan its skin tone every now and then.
On the other hand, almost all the non-white nations around the world, from Arabs to Indians, from the Far-Eastern people to the South Americans, believe that they would look better with a whiter skin tone so they use all the skin whitening products available in the market.

We just go outside and do things because they need to be done or they are fun to do... If we plan to be outside for more than like 3 or 4 hours maybe we throw on some sun screen to prevent getting burned. If we are light or dark it doesn't matter. The more of an outdoors sort of person we are, generally the more we tan. We don't worry about all that race shit. The bigger the racist you are the more your race is central to your identity.

That's true, and it's a bit of a contradiction.
I think it's because a lot of white people are attracted to darker skin tones, dark eyes, darker hair, and a lot of darker people are attracted to lighter skin, lighter eyes, and lighter hair.
In reality if the lighter people would stay light, and the brown people would stay brown, they would probably be more attractive to each other, rather than trying to imitate their preferences.

Same reason women with curly hair, straighten their hair and women with straight hair curl their hair. People want what they can't have
Also, pale skin is seen as a sign of social status in these countries, whereas in the West tan skin means you can afford traveling to exotic destinations, so it's a sign of social status

There are people who have tan skin that cannot afford a so called exotic vacation. People can get tan by going for a bike ride, going for a walk, going on a hike, boating with friends, laying on the beach, going to a park, doing yard work.

South Americans don't really bleach, that's not a common practice there. Maybe everyone should just be happy with what they naturally have

I'm actually the reverse. I don't like getting tan at all. I like my normal color. And the tan lines. I hate tan lines. All my female friends think it looks cute. Which is nice to hear 😏 but it doesn't change how I feel about getting tan. I just don't like being multicolored 😂

They want to have "white skin" not to look like us, but because it's a social marker.
Basically, having a darker skin means you're working in the sun, often a hard job, not very rewarding, and you're low on the social ladder.
People with money or power don't need to work outside, because you leave that to poorer people you're employing. And therefore they're not exposed to the sun, making them lighter.
Having a lighter tone means that you're either rich or powerful.

Exactly. And for us in the West, being tanned means to have the time (luxury!) to actually go out and do sports, sit on a lake or a beach or to be able to afford a nice holiday in a sunny country.

I ask the opposite question. Why do so many cultures think pale and sickly looking is attractive?

People who spend all their time indoors tend to look unhealthy, likely because they ARE unhealthy. And that is not attractive.
