How to clean white shoes?

Like this kind not the exact same ones but in this genre, I heard and saw videos of peoples cleaning it with toothpaste is it effective?

It's vinyl based artificial leather and material. I put my white sneakers in laundry machine at 30 C on lowest possible spin.
