first that is severly overpriced. second as far as real gold is concerned it depends on the carat and the weight of it and the style of the necklace and where it's originally made. lot of factors play into determining the price. if you want 10k 14k 18k 22k 24k and if you want yellow gold white gold rose gold if you want the style to be chain, figaro, rope, cuban, etc etc... and also depends on the origins where it was made if it was made in italy or tiwain or cuba japan etc etc all of this takes into account how much the gold necklace is going to cost you. plus you also have to take into consideration who you're buying it from if it's from a wholesaler or a retailer because retail stores usually do extordinarily high markups on their merchandise so they can pay for the rent space to keep their store open. wholesalers usually give it cheaper but you also got to make sure the gold necklace has the stamp on the clasp which indicates if it's 10k 14k 18k 22k 24k. also some third party places on amazon markup their inventory to pay amazon fees and credit card payment fees and to cover the shipping and handling which amazon is picky about their 2 day bullshit shipping and to make a profit on whatever they're selling.

and i forgot to mention is you have to look at the price of gold an ounce and how much it is each day to determine if the gold necklace is on par on value or way overpriced or underpriced. gold is around $1927 dollars an ounce for pure gold. also another thing i forgot to mention is with the fake gold necklace there's different types of base metals that are used when making fake gold necklaces such as gold over sterling silver with sterling silver as the base, gold filled, and gold over copper or brass. the cheapest fake gold necklaces can also turn your skin green and the necklace itself can turn green as in tarnish if not properly cared for and treated

Yes it is obsurb to pay that much.
I used to own our family jewelry store, and grew up in the business.
That is getting into solid gold price.
Unless it is from some shee shee Foo Foo designer, but considering it is just plated, yes, that is way too high.
Maybe 20 to 30 bucks tops.

I agree. I saw a nice necklace then saw the price and thought it must be pure gold... the brand seems to be posh but I never even heard of the brand before. Maybe i think they make limited editions but still there are pure gold necklaces worth more than this for less... if they don't get sales it's their own fault

If its sterling underneath then not for retail on a big one

If it's lightweight or base metal cored then absolutely, that's a hosing


Real gold I'd probably expect to pay about £50 a gram for 22kt which is as close to pure as is generally available

Sounds overpriced. One gram of 18k gold goes for about $46, it’s fluctuates daily. How many grams is it? How many karats we talking? Is it some sort of specialty necklace? Because of course you’re going to pay more for something unique, but even though for something plated in gold that sounds overly priced. There’s a lot of necklaces on APMEX for 18” chains less than $400, 18k. I like to use APMEX when purchasing gold among a couple other places.
