What is with the fake "shoe brush" eyelashes?

There was a woman walking just ahead of me earlier chatting with a friend. She had these enormous fake eyelashes on...

I was completely mesmerized, not because it looked good but because it looked like she had two of those little shoe brushes I use for my shoes attached to her eyes... I was so grotesque that I silently raised my own eyebrows, daring her to just blink...

I mean... that didn't look comfortable or appealing at all... Moreover, she had a really pretty face aside from those glued on monstrosities, which were way too big for her face and eyes... I wondered WHY? ... Why waste natural beauty on such a fake, awkward look?

So ladies, do you partake in the whole fake eyelash thing? Can you please tell me what that does... perhaps for your confidence or something? I just don't understand it...

The way you have described it looks abnormal so i'll say no, even though sometimes the fake eyelashes looks good on some women but not that long 🤣🤣

Personally i prefer the girl to be natural, i mean even if she wants to put some make up and some fake stuff, it's better to keep herself recognizable and not changing herself till the point of losing her identity!

I have the one friend I know who does them so they look like just regular lashes. Literally the only reason I know they're fake is because I've known her since we were kids and they've always been short and sparse... so whatever she does now looks amazing.

But this was like... if you remember the bushy Christmas tinsel garlands from the 70s/80s? But on her face like a Jim Henson puppet. Such a shame.

I agree... natural (as much as possible) is best. Maybe a little touch of color for a night out or something... Otherwise I'm big on letting the inner light shine through.

Tbh these eras are stuck in my mind more than our present day, i remember everything from the past with details, it's because these days were my happiest days and now i always wish if we can just relive these beautiful moments were everything had a value, were the little things in life made you happy from your heart, when i was just a little kid and thought that everything in this world was beautiful and that all the people whom i love, loves me back!

I agree that those are grotesque. And they are obviously fake. I have nothing against fake eye lashes as long as they don't look abnormal.

Agreed. My one friend with very sparse lashes gets a very natural looking thing done once a month that does look quite nice. (But in general I was always taught that the more you mess with your face the more haggard you’ll look when you age, so I don’t mess with stuff like the fake lashes at all.)

I don’t understand it either. In general I don’t wear makeup. Never foundation. On occasion I will do very light eyeliner. I do wear lip gloss routinely, sometimes tinted and always flavored! I would rather just take good care of my skin than cover up bad skin with makeup. Foundation ruins healthy skin.

Yes, I mean, I’ve seen fake lashes that are dainty and simple (professionally applied also) on ladies who have sparse lashes. What I saw today was… different. I’ve never seen such a thing before.
