Why did everybody tuck their shirts in during the 90s?

It’s been seen in 90s footages, sitcoms, and pictures like this? Why is this?

Nobody actually did that. Teenagers guys generally wore baggy jeans and graphic t-shirts that were untucked. It didn't matter if you were White, Black, Asian, or Hispanic. It didn't matter if were into hip-hop, were a surfer, a skater, a raver, a freak, in a grunge rock band, or a Mexican gang banger. Everyone wore baggy jeans and t-shirts. What was different was how baggy the jeans were, the brands of jeans, the colors, the type of graphic tees that were worn, and the brands of shoes. A skater or a raver would wear JNCO jeans and probably some vans and someone that was into hip-hop would wear Echo jeans and some nikes. A mexican gang banger might wear brown jeans, were as a freak always wore black, and other people generally wore blue jeans. As for adult men, again untucked t-shirts for casual wear, but swap out the baggy jeans for cargo kakis with boat shoes or something along those lines. Graphic tees were often things to do with fishing or something like that. Often adult men wore collared polo shirts. Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, and Polo were popular. Adult mean also commonly wore button down collared shirts which would be tucked into some slacks. In the 90s teenage girls were all wearing daisy dukes with some skimpy top in the warm months long jeans in the winter. Adult women were wearing a bunch of different things.

Because it showed you were upper class and not working class, as the working class often wore smocks and overalls, not shirts.

I think it was a more polished look then and taking pride in how you dressed, just like waaay back in the day people wore suits all the time and most women wore dresses. Over the years dress and fashion has gone down to legging and yoga pants. Basketball shorts and t shirts

Tucking shirts with the use of a belt isn’t just a fashion accessory - it’s there to help your pants fit your body better. It does create clean lines while giving definition to your waist. Plus your shoulder makes look broader.
