I have a little acne and want to get rid of it. Are there any good remedies besides creams?
1 yHere is what worked for me because I was getting it bad until I made changes.
1) Stay the fuck away from sugar. Sodas, candy, chocolate, and basically ANYTHING that is sweet. Just give it up or else enjoy another breakout cycle.
2) Don't wash your face. Washing your face keeps acne away is a lie, just like using chapstick will keep you from getting chapped lips is a lie. I run the suds from my shampoo over my face in the shower and that's good enough. It's a lie to get you to buy more product like face wash and other such bullshit.
3) Don't touch your face. If you got grease on your hands, stay the fuck away from scratching your face. Greasy ass fingers will fuck up the pores on the face. Plus how do you get grease off... soap and that goes back to my #2 reason.
Now number 4 don't apply to me, but I really do think it applies to some females...
4) Some makeup has mineral dust mixed with what? Some oil or grease. Maybe think about minimizing the use of that junk.
That's it... to keep it simple; don't fuck with your face or eat sugar.
TL;DR Don't fuck with your face or eat sugar.

Honestly, none of those answers were correct. Here are a few ingredients that work for specific issues. AHA which is Glycolic, Mandelic, and Lactic Acid helps with dehydration, sun damage, dull skin, and dead skin. BHA which is Salicylic Acid helps with whiteheads, uneven akin, blackheads, and rough skin. Retinol can be used for signs of aging, general acne, uneven tone, and texture. Vitamic C is for dull skin, fine lines, sun damage, and uneven skin tone. And Benzoyl Peroxide works for Papules & Pustule acne, inflammation, dead skin, and inflammatory acne.

I would say diet. I’m not an expert but I do believe that sometimes the issue is inside our bodies not always external, so make sure you’re eating a balanced diet, staying hydrated and active throughout the day. And you can still continue using that cream that you have

There are meds but try the easy solutions first as the meds have permanent side effects and acne is temporary.20 Reply

Absolutely! Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water can help your skin. Incorporating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, like salmon and walnuts, can improve skin health. Also, maintaining a balanced diet with fruits and vegetables can reduce inflammation. Regular exercise boosts circulation and reduces stress, which can improve acne. Remember, good sleep and stress management also play a crucial role. 😊

Managing acne often requires a combination of consistency, lifestyle adjustments, and professional guidance. Below is a structured summary of the suggested approach for achieving clearer skin.
Doxycycline: An oral antibiotic that requires a prescription. It is often considered a cost-effective solution, and some people use it for six months or longer to maintain clarity. Some may eventually only need it for two weeks per month around the time of their period.. Always take it earlier in the day with a full meal and plenty of water to minimize stomach upset. Do not lie down immediately after taking it. If you experience heartburn, an over-the-counter antacid like Tums can be helpful, though taking it with a substantial meal often prevents this.
Benzoyl Peroxide (10%): A potent, evidence-backed treatment used for washing, masking, or spot-treating. Look for larger, more economical tubes at drugstores.
Masking: Applying it as a mask once a week can help bridge the gap while waiting for oral antibiotics to take effect. For the first week or two, you might mask every night, using 100% pure aloe vera gel afterward to prevent the skin from becoming too dry.
Topical Retinoids and Antibiotics: While frequently prescribed by dermatologists to unclog pores and kill bacteria, they can sometimes cause initial "purging" (an increase in breakouts). Some prefer to stabilize the skin with oral antibiotics for 6–8 weeks before introducing these topicals.
Daily Skincare Routine
Facial Cleansing: Aim for three dedicated face washes daily using antibacterial soap and a fresh, clean washcloth. Gently scrub the face for at least one minute to ensure thorough cleansing.
Shower Routine: Consider your shower a fourth cleansing opportunity. Apply a benzoyl peroxide face wash and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing.
Lifestyle and Nutritional Support
Diet and internal health play a critical role in skin clarity.
Dietary Adjustments: Focus on whole foods. Avoid foods that come in crinkly, salty, or greasy bags, as well as breaded or fried items. If food leaves your hands or mouth oily, it is likely best avoided. Additionally, reducing or eliminating dairy may help, as conventional dairy can contain hormones that contribute to acne.
Hydration: Aim for at least six glasses of water daily to assist the body in removing impurities. Avoid sugary bottled drinks like soda and iced teas.
Supplements: When combined with a healthy diet, the following may support skin health:
* Multi-vitamins (twice daily)
* Zinc
* Omega-3 Fatty Acids
* Vitamin A (as beta-carotene)
* Probiotics
Consistency. While a strict schedule is ideal, consistency is the key to success. If you cannot complete every wash due to school or other commitments, do your best to maintain the routine. Avoid being overly hard on yourself if you miss a wash, but stay diligent—achieving significant results requires sustained effort.
Birth Control:. Some oral contraceptive formulations are known to help regulate hormones that cause acne. Consult with a dermatologist regarding this option.
Always consult with a board-certified dermatologist before beginning new medications like doxycycline or retinoids to ensure they are appropriate for your specific skin type and health history. Some find that by consistently following the lifestyle and hygiene protocols above, the use of retinoids may not be needed.00 ReplyThere are no instant remedies that actually work, but there are lots of little things that can make a big difference in the long run.
In order of importance (for most people): don't over-wash your skin (plain water and a gentle washcloth every day, then apply mild soap with only your hands every other day or every day only if you have extremely oily skin); only shower/wash with cool water (never warm/hot); drink plenty of water every day; eat plenty of sulfur-rich foods (for glutathione synthesis, which indirectly but significantly helps prevent the inflammation that leads to acne); eat plenty of leafy greens and bright-colored fruits & veggies (for micronutrients in general but especially vitamin C, which is vital for collagen synthesis); make sure you're getting complete proteins in your diet (chicken, rice, quinoa, peas, beans) and that you're getting enough protein in general (10% of calorie intake is insufficient unless you're a couch potato - shoot for 15-20%).
For limited spot treatment most people respond best to one of two options: the smother approach (small hydrocolloid patch or just a tiny piece of duct tape cut to size), or the acid approach (low-dose AHA). The former is much safer if it works for you (tends to work unless you are prone to skin allergies or get contact dermatitis to unusual things) and also works for almost all skin eruptions with any sort of immune involvement (warts etc). The latter is the nuclear option and can scar or permanently damage your skin, and requires being extremely careful about sunscreen use and sun exposure (so maybe not the best option if you are trying to avoid creams specifically). Anything on the market more complicated than either of those is more likely to do more harm than good and isn't necessary unless you have severe cystic or widespread acne.
You mentioned creams, so figured I'd add in case you're referring in whole or in part to Retinol creams: if those work best for you currently, it almost always means that you have a significant dietary insufficiency that you might not be aware of (most commonly animal proteins/products and/or vitamin C). 1 yFirst you want to choose a good cleanser, depending on your skin type. I have sensitive skin so i use Aveeno Gentle foaming cleanser.
Lemon also juice makes a great natural toner to cleanse dirty pores, eating foods rich in vitamin A like 🥭 mangos, apricots, and canelopes will help too.
I also know a good homemade face mask you can try, only 3 ingredients!
●1 Tablespoon real honey
●1 Tablespon Aloe vera gel
● 1 Tablespoon mashed papaya.
Mix ingredients in small bowl with spoon. Wash face and leave slightly damp. Use face mask brush or paddle (if you have one otherwise just use your hand) and lather on your face evenly. Leave on for 10 minutes, rinse completely with lukewarm water. Be sure to always use an oil free moisturizer or your blemishes can come back.
Extra tips
- Never squeeze blemishes! This can result in permanent pore damage and big red craters in the skin. Instead spot treat them with honey or toothpaste, if you have no time for that there are make up tricks you can use to disguise them until you take care of them.
- always remove your makeup and clean your face at night before bed
-Dont ever use other people's makeup or let people use yours. Zits can come from germs and this will avoid the spread of them00 ReplyPlenty of ttips and tricks forsure, but starting with the general stuff
Lots of sleep, water, healthy foods (especially leafy greens and berries; great for your skin) and exercise.. PLUS less fatty/greasy/sugary foods, and soda.
if you're acne is still pretty bad even if you have healthy habits.
Go easy on the makeup, just eye stuff and lipstick ( that'll save you some money too tbh)
go with satin sheets (over cotton) and replace your pillow cases often
get a pimple popping set from CVS/Walgreens; it really helps get the grossness out fully (which prevents them from reforming in the same spot), and leaves the skin less red (irritated) so they don't stick out as bad.
Avoid the extra strength/harsh cleansers, go with something gentle like cerave (so it'll cut the oils down but not strip em completely, cuz then your skin makes even more).
you can take some dietary supplements should promote clear/healthy skin
Zinc
Vitamin D (which you can get from the being outside in the sun)
Vitamin E
if you have specifically oily skin take some vitamin A
if your pimples still get really irritated take Omega-3s00 Reply
2 moI think it depends on your biology. What works for me... do not wash my face with soap, avoid greasy lotions (go with water based), and avoid high sugar intake (sodas and chocolate). Acne is no longer a thing at all.
See for me, I've tried the face washes and the special treatments... and I found they made things worse for me. For instance, anti-dandruff shampoos give me dandruff and I finally figured out to go for a 'daily mosture' shampoo instead... zero dandruff. Sugar... if I consume it, I can literally feel my face getting sticky... it was easy to figure that one out.
But what works for me, might not work for you. You'll have to go through the process of trial and error like us all. Once you figure out what works for you, don't deviate.
00 Replyi take lots of drugs so liver protection supplement works wonders for me (but also considering the fact i’m way pass puberty and mainly get acne cuz of medications). If it’s not of your medication i’d say cutting down on heavily processed, deep-fried food, alcohol, dairy, also have more greens and you’ll be fine

- drinking enough water

00 Reply931 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. Depends on type, and cause, of acne.
Most types of hormonal acne you can do nothing about. Sure they will sell you all sorts of bullshit advice, pills and topical solutions. But the simple fact is that your body MUST undergo that stage, to mature.
You can only mitigate some of the effects with contraceptives or hormone represents. But usually the doctor will just give you a placebo to shut you up.

1 yOnly pop pimples that have a “tip” or white head. And only with clean hands to prevent infection
Never keep squeezing a pimple because it’ll lead to scaring.

10 ReplyIt depends what type of skin you have then you can build skincare routine to help fight with the acne. Diet also have a massive impact and stress. I dunno if you're female or male but please remember double face cleaning is a must in the morning and evening plus don't touch your face with dirty hands/stuff.
00 ReplyGood skincare. Wash your face twice a day with something that's actually good (throw out the clean and clear or Neutrogena). Get a moisturizer with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. Drink plenty of water. Use hydrocolloid patches on troublesome spots

1 yTo reduce the effects of acne, wash the area frequently (4-5 times a day) with plain soap and water, being sure to remove any soap residue and dry the area thoroughly.
00 Reply Try to eat healthy and avoid greasy foods. A little sun helps (not too much obviously due to skin cancer concerns). I bet you still look great even with a little acne. All teens get it at times... I did and I just turned 20
