What actually is *Nice guy*? Is it some new Cadbury Chocolate?

“Nice”. The word itself is subjective as heck but we’ll go by the definition launched in 90’s which says that a nice guy is the one who treats women fairly, doesn’t do drugs and sees everyone with respect.

OMG! Nice guys are so ideal. Why do girls hate them?

Now here comes the 2019 definition of a “Nice guy” which is the fault of reddit (I’ve never seen a thread more fucked up than r/niceguys) which says that a “Nice guy” is actually an incel and particularly a synonym of *softboy*. They are just really pushy and feel like you owe them because they are just so nice to you.

What the *Hal* is this softboy now?

A softboy is a guy who wants exactly what a fuckboy wants but through a different route. A softboy would show his prey his emotional side. He would go out of his ways to impress her. He would try to gain her sympathy and once he gets laid, BOOM! the guy suddenly changes.

Okay Hal, I got it. But why is there so much clash between men and women regarding *Nice guys*?

That’s a really good question. It’s because guys are still stuck to that 90’s definition of a “Nice guy” while the girls have moved onto the 2019 definition. It’s like two people fighting over coke. One says he doesn’t like coke while other says coke is amazing. They are too busy arguing that they didn’t notice that one was talking about cocaine while the other meant Coca-Cola. See! This happens when you keep arguing over a subjective term without trying to understand the other person’s view.

So Hal, do girls like “Nice guys”?

The ones according to 90’s definition, yes they do but according to 2019 one, you already know the answer. So apparently, girls do like genuine nice guys who don’t really care about the shitty tags and still believe in chivalry.

There are actually 2 types of nice guys and 2 badboys. I'm making this up as I go by the way.

1. The reddit version- soft and needy- they try use their niceness to get credits or points that they think are worth sex or love or attention. There is potential for viciousness or resentment. Or maybe a more benign version is those that are just content to be beta orbitors - those are more along the lines of the cuck or 'faux gayfriend'. These types to grow need to learn how to be non-needy, to have a life, to learn how attraction works, to work out, how to assert themselves, not just with women, but everyday, and so on- or some unique personal combination of such things. I'm not saying I've never been this by the way or that I'm not even a little this way now.

2. The guy that has a good heart. To say nothing of his strength- maybe he's strong physically and emotionally and can even discipline, and is capable of being hard on assertive and non needy. This is more along the lines of the kind or good hearted guy. He sometimes "fails" with women by not being exciting enough or by surrendering short term gain/hookup for what he seeks long term.

3. The bad boy is a challenge, something that nice guys have trouble being- because they don't prioritize that. The nice guys are often clingy or maybe just too expressive, even if they just want to get their desires off their chest. Even if they just think of it as being direct- conveying interest or intent can destroy challenge. I do this to convey intent and then I leave it in her court. I do it largely because I don't want my time wasted. If she's interested, she'll follow up and meanwhile I don't have to think anything more of it. Unfortunately that's how it works- that's why I have some mgtow personality in me. In a way, the direct method used as such is a way of offloading responsibility onto another (in a way that doesn't really work). In that sense it is a little mgtow like in effect, and I"m fine with that. I hate having my time wasted in vain, let alone my emotions, but still, I have to admin, it doesn't really help in dating. It's a low batting average because of lack of challenge. If you are aloof or closed off, you can be a challenge in a way, but too much of a challenge is no challenge. A bald faced cliff too much of a challenge to a beginning climber is no challenge. If women see you like that, they won't attempt to climb you. So that's why it seems hard- it is a kind of goldilocks thing- you need the levels just right, and that's hard, especially for someone who actually hates to focus on this stuff. This is why having a girlfriend already helps, because you have a supply of your needs getting met, but badboys are a challenge somehow, and that drives women mad. I don't know exactly the nuts and bolts of effectively being a challenge (versus aloof, a tease, or an easy mark, like a nice guy). I don't know. Maybe it would be good if I did. But I know a lot of other things, like how to build a website and play guitar and dance.

2. The other badboy is someone who is exciting, good at sex, uses drugs, or just lives on the edge, has tatoos, etc.

I'm just making all this up, but writing has always helped me think and process information and emotion. Use this for inspiration if it helps.

You are definitely right, we have to define terms, nowhere more than when we are discussing 'nice guys' and how it pertains to being selected sexually by women. Niceness can be the shell one wears over an underlying weak being, and it is the weakness that is repulsive to girls, not (just) the niceness. These people would be bad and selfish, or at least balanced, if they weren't weak. The niceness is a survival trait in a competitive hierarchical world. They were omegas first and then they adopted the strategy of niceness. Of course they are wearing masks. And then there are just traditionalists with classical values, monogamy, etc, who don't fit in or excite as much in the young educated woman market.

Have to admit the comparison between the fuckboi and the 2019 nice guy made me chuckle.

People like to frame ideas but they don't like to unpack them. Every reference title is made for the sake of convenience. It's so that the idea conveyed on a subject can be tightly packaged and filled with comprehemdable, or relatable nuance. It's a very simple mechanism for speech. The problem is that people aren't as interested in talking as they are in speaking.

You better believe what they say or they will beat you up!

It's totally fine to have references like nice guys and have them share multiple and contradictory meanings, if the point of bringing it up is to communicate an idea to somebody else to have an actual discussion. You just have to ask the other person what they generally mean by it. But there's people out there still in the stone age that don't know how to have an actual conversation, a conversation that is interesting, productive and not vapid and dull.

Those same idealogues who don't have actual conversations though just use such terms as scare tactics. They frame certain behaviours and traits in a demonised light to justify their aggression. So, I can see why people argue over it. I think if we reincolcated basic good mannerisms into society we wouldn't have these problems. It's bad to be a SJW, it's as simple as that.

It's only a term used so that way a good trait is suddenly confused with something bad so bad traits are more likely to be less thought about and more excused so women seem less stupid when they date obviously bad choices. Nice guys, or what we might more readily call "good men" are fantastic.

"Nice Guys" are not nice. They say they are but prove to have some pretty significant problems from being manipulative to basically despising women.

They just seem to be really common on the internet with the whole Incel thing, but we have known guys like this forever. We're just talking about it more openly now.

We want there to be more young men who actually look at what makes a good man, and try to develop themselves into decent, strong, well rounded people who are trustworthy and have self-confidence. They'd probably be a lot happier.
