What does it mean when a girl gives a shy smile but doesn't make any eye contact?

I've noticed for different situations - at work, restaurants etc.

I.e. I noticed for different women when I walked down a hall at work, they would notice me from far away, and as I approach closer they would smile and blush, but would avoid eye contact by looking down or straight ahead.

Same but similar situation happened at a store a number occasions when I bought something, the clerk (woman), smiles and blushes as she hands me the item, yet avoid eye contact.

Is this a sign that women are attracted to me, or does it mean something else?

By the way these are total strangers (don't know them, and 100% sure they don't know me. If at work, it happens on some different floor / department). It'll be one woman walking by (not in pacts), and be a total stranger to me.

Women avoid eye contact with men they are attracted to because they are afraid the man will see it in their eyes. It makes u vulnerable, if the man doesn't feel the same way you are exposed. For example there is a man I work with that has the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. When we first met we had a good 5-8 second eye contact exchange and I literally was speechless. I felt like he was looking at my soul and I at his. I have never experienced this before. I find my self so attracted to him that when I look at him I get lost and its so obvious that im attracted to him. I'm a married woman. So now I just don't look him in the eyes anymore. He seems hurt about it but this is a situation that could not have a happy ending.

I'm sure you are an attractive guy...and some girls turn shy when they spot someone like that...i guess it's because they aren't extremely confident...if you think that's the case you should say "hi" first :) It could also be that the smile, but no eye contact, is just a polite gesture when passing by. I actually do that when I see someone coming my way but I don't want to pass by awkwardly and ignore them completely, so I just give em a friendly smile.
