Because it's a crush- meaning the feeling typically isn't mutual, or they barely know you exist. Hence why it's called a "crush": your feelings and heart gets crushed when you find out they're unavailable.

Just about every guy I've had a crush on was already taken or uninterested in me. That gets annoying after a while. So I'm kind of glad I haven't had any crushes lately; keeps me from getting my hopes up.

I genuinely think I had a crush on someone for every day (not the same person lol) from my first day at school as a 5 year old (I have a rejection story as a 6 year old... it's genuinely heart breaking lol!) for a good 20 years... Quite the oppposite. My world make sense when i'm not having feelings for someone. It it were possible to just kill off those feelings altogether i'd do it. Think about how less complicated life becomes if you eliminate the opposite gender.
