I have always understood that flirting was a way of breaking the ice, leading onto sex a mate in nature flirts and would get chased away if not wanted but in most cases would end in mating (sex) so if your flirting with a boy you are inviting him to chase you for sex, as my gran says don't put things on show if you don't want them looked at!!!

Even though the two women who’ve answered so far are calling those guys stupid, they think that because most women don’t speak like that to guys they’re not interested in - as in it usually is a big sign of interest. They’re not exactly wrong for being a little confused.
Are you mentally impaired or a sociopath? I think you are the one who doesn't get it. In every damned place in the world, flirting means you're interested. The is no such thing as platonic flirting in a guy's mind. Don't flirt with guys you're not interested in. Flirting means you're attracted to them in everybody's mind but yours.
Imagine thinking that men can tell what your flirting actually means. Most men that run into women flirting with them are going to think you're interested. It's not rocket science here. Men dont get any attention from women so what are they going to think when you flirt? Use that brain of yours sweetie
You may think it's joking but they obviously think it could be more. Take a minute to put yourself in their shoes and think of the last time this happened. If someone had flirted with you the same way, what would you think?

And this is why guys eventually stop asking women out. Because so many women feel it's OK to "flirt" with guys they have no interest in. Most good women know where the line is. This is why I reject overly flirtatious women because it's usually a good sign that they are not a nice person.
That’s so true, and I feel really bad for guys sometimes because of that. But sadly it’s because of that magnification that we get even more cautious about giving guys “too much” attention. Great answer 👏🏼
There are those guys out there that just lose it the second that flirting happens, even if it's platonic. It's one of of those things if you see a guy acting weird cause of it, you'll have to dial it back otherwise they'll mistake it as advacement.
You can't control on people's thinking. Every people won't think in that way i am sure. So just be as you are.

I can't count the number of times asking a question , directions, or just trying to read something they were standing in front of where a women falsely assumed I was hitting on them. It goes both ways.
You honestly can't. Men will never stop mistaking sexual interest for sexual interest; that will never happen. The reason is that most women don't act that way if they aren't sexually interested.
It's sad, but it's because generally guys have a harder time understanding nuance. We see a smile and think "wow, she must like me" because that's how WE tend to feel when we smile at someone.
Don't flirt with people you have no interest in. Being friendly and he mistakes it, that's on him, if you're flirting with him that's on you, there's no such thing as platonic flirting.

Guys hardly get any attention from women (even from female friends). That's why, a little act of kindness gets magnified in their brain

I don't. I think its just some single guys thinking, "Is she interested? Screw it, can't hurt to ask."

Let's normalize the fact that being nice and friendly is not flirting.
You can't fight biological desires
@Tstrbrainer yes you can, but if you lack self control you could just say that
One can control oneself from jumping into bed, but feelings are beyond conscious control.
@Tstrbrainer who said anything about feelings, I said that being nice and friendly is not flirting.
And I say that that will invoke feelings in men.
Be careful when you are being nice and friendly
@Tstrbrainer I work in customer service… it is literally my job to be nice to everyone.
Job is a different scenario, but still I'd like women to be more formal with me if they are not interested
@Tstrbrainer politeness and kindness are manners which are a formality
I know, but there's a line one shouldn't cross, especially when they are attractive
@Tstrbrainer in that case it’s not just being kind any more it would be flirting

You are an absolutely gorgeous woman so it may be that they are just hoping you’re serious 🧐
1. Continue to flirt expecting guys to know you don't want them and wonder why they try to get with you.
It makes you a tease which is not cool.
2. Only flirt if you want to be with the guy.
No such thing as platonic flirting. Something people made up. Flirting is for attracting the opposite sex romantically.
Heck that’s what happens as a single guy myself if a women was doing that to me at the very least I’d probably flirt a little back
