How to you talk to someone you like over text?

What are some good rules to play by when you're texting someone you're into?

Are asking small things like "How's you're week going?" too friendly and not flirty enough? I've been out of the dating scene for a long while so could do with a bit of help.

For context : Me and a girl hooked up a few weeks ago after a mutual friends party. We've texted a small handful of times but I am garbage at talking through text. I'm much better face to face. I've asked her out for a drink but she's a very busy person so it's a bit of a struggle to find time. Feel free to message me if you'd like to help, I can put more context in 🙂

"The way you play the game is whatever someone says, you agree with them ("Yes"), then add something NEW to the conversation ("and...").

Example:
A: Hey, you're wearing my shoes!
B: That's right, now you have to catch me!
A: I'll catch you, for sure, and then I'm going to cook you in a stew.
B: You cook people in stew? I knew these were witch's shoes! You're a witch!
A: That's right, I'm a witch, I'm casting my sleep spell on you now... balakamathazeew, ba ba gah nah herobadash!
B: (falls asleep)

Bad examples:
A: Hey, you're wearing my shoes!
B: Ok?
(scene goes nowhere)

A: Hey, you're wearing my shoes!
B: No, I'm not.
(scene goes nowhere)

A: Hey, you're wearing my shoes!
B: Yup.
(scene goes nowhere)

The point is, if only one person is giving energy to the conversation (or scene), it fizzles and dies, or leaves one person disappointed."

I literally talk about anything and eveyrhing over text. I talk about the weather, news , politics, work my family etc.
