Should a girl cut contact a long time ago?

I was talking to this girl she showed very high initial interest but later said she wanted to take a step back because she has a lot going on right now. I also made the mistake of texting her every couple of days so maybe I overdid it. We have not spoken in 6 months. Im not very emotional about this girl but i think she's really cool and i also feel like in many ways we would have a good relationship. The main thing is that I'm 26 and she's 19 and although she did not tell me this was the problem i feel as though it is.
