How to learn to flirt for fun and get good at flirting?

I have no luck with men and always end up the one played. A friend told me the key was to flirt for fun so you don’t get attached unless the feeling is mutual and they fall first. I don’t know how to flirt at all, my go to is to act like I don’t even notice the person I’m interested in so they can’t reject me until they already like me. Obviously, this is pretty effective. How do I flirt like a normal person? (preferably not to direct considering I’m in high school and I don’t wanna be made fun of)

Maybe that works for a person who plays games but it’s silly to imply that you can just flirt someone all the way into having feelings for you then you just switch yours on in reciprocation like magic. What you need to do is ask the right questions in the beginning. What’re his intentions for talking to you, what is he looking for right now — things like that. If he’s one of those “could we just go with the flow and see where we end up?” “well I just got out of a relationship so—” “oh I’m really busy with work and stuff so I don’t know how much time I’d have for a relationship but—“; basically anything other than he’s looking to date is an automatic no. Then from there just use your judgment to decide if he’s worth investing time. Like is he prioritizing you fairly, does he ask you out, does he have actual conversations and not jump right to sexting, etc etc. Don’t do what your friend suggested though it’s just silly.
