Is the bartender flirting with me? Or is he just doing his job?

So I am from Australia, so I am not sure if that means bartending might be a bit different as we don't do tips as such.

. So last weekend I went to a bar and I felt super confident. I found one of the bartenders really cute and when he served me I asked what his suggestion for a nice cocktail would be and he served me a really nice with, with like 7odd decorative flowers on it. We would make a LOT of strong but comfortable eye contact and even smiled back at each other.

After I had the drink I went up for another one and as I was waiting to be served, we was walking past carrying something for close and we made eye contact again. I saw that as he turned his head to look forward I saw him say "oh F**k" and my confidence kinda shattered a bit as I didn't want come off creepy, I just wanted a drink. He came back out and asked what he could get for me. I asked for the same drink again, he had to tell me the cocktail bar was closed but then it was back to the eye contact and smiling.

So I decided to write him a note on a napkin, I wrote along the lines of "Thank you for the Drink, it was really good! Bartender w/ Long hair My insta @." I handed it to another bartender and sped off.

I had him stuck in my head all weekend like really badly so I went back with another friend two days later and he wasn't working at first but he soon came to work.

I felt a little embarrassed, but I went to order my drink a drink (same one as me but she wasn't getting as many flowers) and when another guy made the drink, he made it down the other end of bar next to the cute bartender then told me I had to get it? so I sped down, got it and took off avoiding eye contact.

Later when we went up again he kinda ended up taking my order, I heard his mates say he was on fire? when I finished paying he said to me "Thank you for the note, It was cute"... so I am a little baffled by all this and just want to know if he playing with me or actually kinda likes me!!

If he was flirting with a customer, then he should probably be fired as this is an unacceptable behavior and a responsible manager would give him a warning not to do it again or at least tell him off.

That is probably what happened since he seemed more distant with you after you came again, hoping for something to happen. His reaction to your direct invitation on the napkin speaks for itself. All he said was "Thank you for the note, It was cute".

That kind of sentence says that he is not interested and you should take it as such. Do not insist because you only do him a disfavor.

I also found out he has a girlfriend as well :) and I also want to add cause I ran out of letter but I am not looking for a relationship!! Just thought he was cute and wanted to know if that feeling was mutual :) <3
