What's your go-to conversation starter when you're interested in someone?

It can depend. I enjoy sports and stuff like that. The guy I’m interested in is a big sports fan and I watch sports but not super big. I watch the mlb and college football. He bugged me to tell him my favorite college team and me knowing he went to the rival school didn’t want to tell him. He kept bugging me though and I caved and told him and someone that was there caught on and said I see why she didn’t want to tell you. Another would be work or hobbies. He enjoys fishing and hunting he told me that and we also talked about planes. Everything we like seemed to match up. I’m hoping it works out though! I do think he’s trying to keep it professional though.
I look for something we can connect over. There's no point in asking a stranger about politics, religion, favourite ice cream etc that looks fake and desperate.
If you can't connect over ice cream or the intricacies of America's socio-economic institutions that keep the working class in line, then what can you connect over?
What they're watching on TV/Prime/Netflix etc.
Also, tend to ask that when conducting job interviews. It not only gives instant insight into what they are like, but also what they are about.
Can't say I have a go to.. all depends on the circumstances and environment... or the vibe she is sending.

I like to talk about food because it can be tied with cultural customs and relationships and festivals and locations.
What do they like? Common interests.
I don't have an actual conversation starter. I just speak casually and let topics pop up from there. It always works this way when you just do it on the fly. Trying to think up a topic tends to be robotic for me, so I'm better at just talking casually and I know how to get people conversing.
I ask them about their happiest memory then start our conversation on that topic. For me, reminding someone of their happiest moments can be a good conversation starter.
I like to start off with their religion which usually turns into a nice political discussion.
You could say I have a way with words
This man's intro: "Hi I'm atheist, how are you?"
Don't look now, but one of us is being followed by what may be ninjas. Hold this coffee and they won't know which of us is which. Ninjas operate off smell. Like a T-rex.
I like lots of things, so I try to find out what they are interested in. But travel is one good starter. If its a nerd like me, then space related stuff.
I normally compliment something about them and introduce myself with a handshake.
“Heyyy! Thats a really nice dress you have and your nails are beautiful … I’m Joshua by the way.” Just an example
It depends upon the venue and the perceived interests of the girl. If I meet her while surfing it will likely be completely different from what it will be if I meet her a guitar shop, and different still if I meet her at a museum.
Each person is an individual.
It's different with every new acquaintance, by necessity.
"I can place my feet behind my head" "I also talk to myself a lot"
That's some talent. I don't know anyone that can do that.
Lots of stretching. Years of it and dancing.
People who don't talk to themselves have no soul to talk to.
If I was, probably an ordinary hello or hi. Lol. 😋👌
Lucky it's never worked with the ladies ahaha. Not that I mind, I'm not actively dating or looking to. 😊
