I've heard people say this before about receiving compliments. Would you say this is true for you?
Like you wanna be given compliments about something you actually worked to accomplish and not anything you didn't work that hard at.

I do prefer to receive compliments about something I've worked on. Something about my skills, stuff like that.
Like work related, or from my creative hobbies. Especially my hobbies I spend a lot of time and effort on, so it means a lot to me.
But overall, I appreciate compliments as long as they are genuine, and not something that's just flung towards me because the other person wants something in return or "to seem nice".
If you don't mean it, don't say it.
I brush off/ignore any and all compliments from any female. I'm automatically suspicious of their motives. From guys, I get them... work related... what I do for the community... but I tell them... it's really just about the people. I don't like all the rah rah.
Yes. If it based on an action or a developed talent, fine, but if it is because of my height or eye color or some other trait over which I have no control, I'd prefer to not hear it.
