Question about being called "delicate"....

I am a young woman who is quite thin (5'5", 110lbs). Quite often, men will describe me as having a "delicate" look, and they say this as if it's a big compliment. Men, is this something you like in a woman? I'm not sure how to take it when guys say this to me, but it makes me feel a little silly. I am an intelligent, college educated person and don't want to be perceived as "helpless." I always graciously accept this "compliment," but deep down, I'm not sure what to think. Help me out guys - what exactly does this mean (not that I seem weak, I hope!). Looking forward to hearing your insights.

im 5 7 95 pounds . guys are always trying to help with stuff, even if I don't appear to be having problems. they just assume I must be weak because I'm thin. I'm not weak. I have never been weak. I like doing things for myself & I enjoy carrying heavy stuff. it feels good. its just their way of making conversation, feeling useful, or flirting, but its annoying to me.

I don't see why a guy would say you look delicate , unless he wanted to feel all macho. as I'm sure he doesn't go up to 100 pound guys ,and tell them they look 'delicate'. or obese guys ,with heart problems who can barely walk, that they look 'delicate'.

i don't think that you should ask yourself if this is what men want in general. I say this because everyone has a preference for sure.

if by delicate, you mean petite..i think that yes, you're getting very wonderful compliments. and no don't feel silly! I like petite women myself. men want a woman, and not someone who's physically stronger than them.

as for feeling weak, only you can portray that. just having lots of self confidence shows outwardly, though I don't think you may have an issue with this. you know where you stand.

delicate look when do you normally get that? is when meeting a guy is it one of the first complements you hear?

It could mean that you are very gentle in the way you talk to people; you're not aggressive or intimidating.
