Why do attractive women always die in horror movies?

Question

every time I see a horror movie, like a Jason Voorhies, Michael Myers, or a Freddy Kreuger horror film. The attractive bombshell is always hacked, decapitated, and dies a very brutal death. Am I the only person who notices this? The unattractive women or plain looking women always survive. Who else sees this?

It's a classic cliché that horror-fans love. A lot of people here have said it's because the director didn't get tail in high-school, which usually is not true. It's the killer that represents that idea, a hateful monster that despises people who have what he doesn't have. Youth, friends, happiness, energy, sex-lives etc.

It's usually the Slut who dies first, then the Jock, then the Clown/Stoner. And so the final girl, who usually is a strong virgin, is left to stand up against the killer since she represents good qualities that the killer can't take revenge on. It's the most common structure of all horror-movies. Period.

To be honest. I think that this is the most overstated stereotype in movies. Everyone always says that the pretty girls die first in horror, but a good many horror movies have only one survivor and she's female. Usually it's a guy and a girl, but a lot of times it's a woman. Pitch Black with Vin Diesel is the only movie I've ever seen where a male protagonist outlives the female protagonist. People say horror or slasher movies are sexist, but there is almost always one female character (read: attractive female) who's safe from being killed off. Not always so for the guys.

because the actresses that play these kind of movies are mostly just blond, big-boobed, pretty, but can't act. Which reminded me of Paris Hilton in House of Wax, except for the big-boobed thing. Getting them killed early is just less of a torture for me.

What I was pissed off about was when they killed off Boone in Season one but let the creepy, weird old Locke live til the end of the show. You know what show. They also let the most annoying bitch live til the end.

Because its all about stereo typing usually its the pretty ditzy girl who does something stupid and the plainer less attractive ones seem to have more common sense. It's not always how things work out in real life I know some really intelligent attractive women and some really dumb stupid ugly women lots of things in movies are so different to reality.

the victim is in the first plan,so showing boobs is easy. and have you ever heard a man with a deep voice scream? it's just awkward. high-pitched voices are better for showing fear.

it isn't the attractive women that die, it is the promiscuous women - it just happens that the promiscuous women are typically attractive in movies.

This common plot theme is usually the result of a conservative/semi-religious director. Not so much to be 'preachy,' but when they don't want the audience to dwell on a particular death, they'll build a character who they don't think anyone would miss. Their religious values tells them that no one would miss a slut - how wrong they are.

"Taken" is a good example. The friend didn't even do anything sexual - she just said she wanted to, and she had to die.

i actually got tired of that, so I stop watching most horrors movies and watch other stuff like military scyfy movies. there a lot better.

Plus, it gets old fast. I am surprise there still popular.

The usual plot device is anyone who has sex dies. Naturally, if you're going to have someone getting naked in your movie, she may as well be smoking hot. Hence the connection.

The chick from that remake of Friday the 13th cums to mind. Good GOD! lol!

I think it's the revenge of the nerds thing.  The guys who make these things usually didn't get tail in HS, even though they are married to hot woman afterward.  If you notice most of the the hot girls are high schoolers. They make it for other guys who didn't get tail, and couples(because a chick jumping into your arms during a scary scene is AWWWWWESOMMMME!)

The hot girls are usually there as eye candy and most of the time they aren't the best of actors. Most well know actors aren't very attractive and they are cast as the lead so next to these hot women they appear plain, but they are the best

Because directors are usually nerds in high school and college and this is their way of saying "Haha, f*** you!" to the girls who didn't notice them. Plus there's always the chance of seeing nudity.
