My boyfriend has a lot of scars on his upper body, should I ask about it?

The other day, we got intimate for the first time. I had never seen him shirtless before that.

Well one thing that was hard to miss, is that is upper body is covered in scars.I can't really tell what it is, but it looks really really bad.

I'm wondering if I should ask him about it at some point, or never ever? Just wait for him to bring it up, if he wants?

I would bring it up gently but being aware that it might be a senaitive subject. if he doesn't seem comfortable talking about it or reacts badly then drop it. even if it is a sensitive topic he should be understanding that you were curious... so long as you respect his privacy and don't bring it up again.

Just gently ask him what they are from but don't expect him to tell you right away it might take time before he is willing to tell you
