I would say yes if you are planning on leaving the job, seriously. My work has a strict no dating coworkers policy and even though I think it shouldn't be their decision, on a personal level I wouldn't do it. When I first started working there, I had a crush on some of my coworkers but I'm glad I didn't even go for them because had I dated them and we broke up, it'd be insanely awkward and make it even more stressful. 6 years ago there were two coworkers that started dating and after they broke up, they still worked together and not only was it stressful for them but for my boss as well.
There's a reason why they say separate your personal life from your work life and it's probably for the best.

We always hear rules like don't fish off the company pier, don't dip in the company ink, etc, but rules are meant to be broken. If you like her then just try to casually grab food during lunch - just say you're getting food at XYZ casual place and ask if she wants to go with. When dating in the workplace, always be prepared to lose the company/job. If things work out, definitely be on the same page with her that no one is to know about it at work for both of your sake.
Ask her to casually hang out outside of work as friends and get a feel for the situation. Does she seem flirty with everyone or just you? If it's just you she probably likes you too but is of course worried about you not returning the feelings and making it awkward when she still has to see you everyday at work. That's a plus you aren't in the same departments. She probably doesn't want everyone at work finding out either. I'm in a similar situation I have a question about. Everyone thinks work dating bad but this sounds fine. You don't have to consult your company unless things get serious. Best of luck to you!
Well you guys work in different departments so I don't see the problem. If the company you guys work at don't have a strict policy about that, then go for it. Where I work, a lot of people are dating people from other departments. I think that as long as you keep it professional at work and leave all the other things for outside of work, you'd be fine.
I too like someone at work, except we work in the same department so I don't know if it would be such a good idea for us. but you guys should be fine. as long as it doesn't affect your work performance.
They say you shouldn't do this if you are in a position of authority over her but I don't see a problem with it.

Considering we spend most of our adult lives, not me specifically, in some sort of corporate work environment, I see nothing wrong with it if you're careful. There's that thought that you shouldn't jeopardize your work environment but really, we have jobs these days, not careers, and with the increasing demand employers put on our time schedules, it's as good a place as any.
Only if one of you do not see yourself working at the company for much longer.
Most corporate companies take a very dim view of workplace relationships, even if there is no such clause written in.don't shit where you eat. if it's a job you care about and won't easily replace, I wouldn't risk it.
surely there's tons of a girls everywhere. It's fine if you believe even if things are not on good terms between the two of you that it won't affect work at all in any way
It's fine just as long as there isn't an anti dating policy in the handbook and also just as long as you two can still be professional if she says no or if you guys do workout and end up breaking up at some point.
Some say it is not good to mix your bread with your butter. Might not be a good idea.
BAD IDEA! DONT risk your work for some chic that it might not even work out with!
Its a CONFLICT OF INTEREST to date a co-worker!
Also, NEVER mix business with pleasure - that's a recipe for a disaster!I wouldn't personally. Don't do anything that can screw up your income.
Bad idea rule number one NEVER MIX BUSINESS WITH PLEASURE.
