  • My girlfriend doesn't peel the potatoes until they are boiled. We don't use a mixer we use a potato masher. We use salted butter because most butters today have vegetable oil in it

    • I peel before boiling, easier than peeling hot potatoes. Potato masher in my opinion doesn't produce airy enough potatoes.

    • Depends how you like your spuds. Some lile it mixed into a kind of paste while others don't. Some put pepper, butter and herbs in without any milk

    • Not a fan of adding sour cream or cream cheese, but am a big fan of adding garlic.

  • There’s no one way and your way isn’t my favourite.

    • What method is your favorite?

    • I meant to say no perfect way. As an Irish person I love potatoes and I can’t be pressed t pick just one way.

I had blue cheese mash the other day at a nice restaurant and they were amazing. Took the rest home and ate them cold. Amazing.

You can make potatoes infinitely different ways and they never cease to amaze.

    • Totally agree, fresh grated garlic always makes potatoes better. The key secret to my technique is the hand mixer with win beaters. Stand mixer with paddle usually leaves some good size lumps, ricers base on my experience leaves a bunch of tiny lumps and potato mashers just doesn't produce airy enough potatoes.

    • i like doing it myself tbh. hard work, but it feels good.

    • Totally agree, it's the little extra hard work that makes them taste better.

  • Sounds delicious. What time should I be there?
