What was your first drink when you turned 21?

I started drinking when I was 14 and by the time I was 21 I barely drank anymore. I think I went a year without drinking alcohol and I didn't even notice it. I didn't drink often earlier either but I usually drank a lot when I did just because it was new and exciting and we all thought drinking a lot was cool back then. Now I've started drinking a little more often again because my social life is a bit more active but still not that often and I've learned to not drink till I throw up everytime which is great. My first drink? Back then we drank a lot of salitos ice, desperados, I drank pesca frizz sometimes, baileys, malibu and orange juice, just beer, vodka red bull stuff like that.
I started college at age 16 in Atlanta. Legal drinking age was 21. County Commissioner Manuel Maloof owned a bar which NEVER got raided, so they never carded anyone, including me. I was drinking beer at Manuel’s early on. Drinking was extremely common on campus. I had access to whatever I wanted and I became very familiar with Tom Collins.
I transferred schools and moved to Tallahassee in 1973. In 1974, Florida lowered the legal drinking age from 21 to 18. I was 19 years old then. I think my very first legal mixed drink was a Black Russian (which was very popular in those years.)
Margarita. I didn't like it. I went through numerous drinks to the point that the bar thought I was taking advantage of them and told me I couldn't swap out drinks anymore (like I was trying to taste the whole menu and not pay).
The issue? I realized I don't like the taste of alcohol and eventually found out that I can only do shots and no actual sipping drinks (no wine, champagne, beer, liquor, garbage can punch, etc.)
That'd be 11. And wine. At the meal with the others.
The 'benefit' of belonging to one of the various non-Anglo cultures who don't treat youth drinking as if taboo. Anglos in this way are so stupid. Their kids sneak booze & drink too much - as some of the others testify if their commentary is truthful - because "responsible" parents can't be bothered to teach them.
I agree with this 100%
From friends I know who’s parents allowed them the occasional drink and taught them how to handle alcohol safely, none of them have had trouble
@Justacatlady Oh they can. But it's far less common than among Anglo cultures. Anglo kids (no offense to anyone) sneak booze & drink too much as said and the more they can get away without getting caught doing this, the less they learn heavy drinking = serious repercussions.

Who said our 1st drink was at 21? You realise that there's barely a handful of countries in the Entire world whose legal drinking age is 21? 90 % of the rest of the world is 18yrs old and most of us have been drinking before that age anyway. Only Americans talk as if they are the only people on the planet
Johnny Walker Black Label, neat. I was 16. It was pretty enjoyable, aside from the burning in my throat with the first sip.
I mean, unless we count the occasional sip of wine and beer when I was a kiddo. I got to drink beer occasionally before I could talk. Lol
A tip to those who want to drink vodka as their first alcoholic drink: don't drink it neat.
Born in England, raised in Ireland my first drink was when I was about 12 😅
Used to drink lager or cider back then
My first legal drink at 18 was a pint of lager too
Though I'm more recent years I've moved onto spirits and Ales
Yeah. my fist drink was at age of 15. homemade vodka with coca cola. didn't buy regulated vodka since they put some chemicals in it to make people puke if you drink more than a certain amount. (some people can't digest that chemical without getting sick every time no matter how much/little they digest)
And it have heavy taxes that makes it ridiculous expensive.
Well back before dirt , lol!
It was as 19 years old and we could drink 3.2 % beer , . . but , most of my friends including myself had fake IDs & had already been drinking !
My first drive ever, was Sloe Gin , ! It didn't taste all that good !
I don’t remember but my first drink ever was a bottle of E&J on my 16th birthday. I drank majority of the whole thing by myself in a few gulps just cause I was being cheered on. Let’s just say I couldn’t stand on my own too feet and blacked/passed out while standing. I never drink darks even to this day.
i still remember this like it was yesterday. i was 9 years old and my grandpa gave me his homemade i guess you could call it whiskey and it was WAY to strong for a kid to drink but i did enjoy the taste.
And for clarification in my parents country it is legal to make your own alcohol but it is illegal to give it to a 9 year old kid.
First drink was rum vodka gin mixed or hooked together. I was 12 and I threw up at every subway stop on my way home. I will be 21 on some months but I won’t be drinking. Haven’t touched the stuff since age 12 😛
My 21st birthday happened to fall on a Saturday. My party (loaded with all sorts of booze & food) didn't start 'til dinner time. Literally my 1st drink that day was just a few glasses of water soon after I woke up.
im British and northern and was going to pubs when i was 14... even in recent times now that age id is needed people here can start drinking in bars and clubs at 18. im assuming you must be american?
I live in the UK so the drinking age is lower at 18, but had been allowed wine with meals much earlier than that around 14 if I remember right, so I've never seen alcohol as one of those forbidden things, the first drink I had in a pub after turning 18 was a pint of Becks Lager.
I don't remember what I was drinking when I turned 21 as the drinking age here is 19, I think I had a rusty nail back then when I turned 19., which is scotch and drambuie.
My first drinks were when I was 9yrs old.. Beer, whiskey and heavy spirits. My drinking days are over thankfully
Some kind of jungle juice with grain alcohol my buddies had to drive out-of-state to get. It was a long night, or more so a long next day lmfao
First drink at age7.
1bear 2glasses of red wine and 1glass of white can't remember anything after i started drinking the white wine bad influences bro but i hate drinking now because of that
well, my first drink and my first drink when I turned 21 are two very differnet things. When I turned 21, I think it was a mai tai.
I turned 21 in Merced California. Visited my friend's grandparents. They took us out to eat at some weird ass banquet hall. I had red wine.
No my first drink I was about 5-6 my dad would give me a sip if nothing else was around but never got drunk till I was 16 and man was that a mistake
I can't remember probably a beer or a screw driver. It wasn't a big deal to me to turn 21, drinking was never my thing.
Glass of wine at Olive Garden. But I had been drinking for two years by that point. Actual first drink was a screw driver at my friends house party.
