Do you like olives? What’s your favorite kind of olive?

Seems like people either love them or hate them. I have always been a big fan. I really like large green olives stuffed with jalapeño and garlic.

I have never met an olive I don’t like. I love them all tbh. Took a lot of effort for me to learn to like tomatoes tho. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I like Mediterranean cuisine so I like olives and olive oil. Green olives on the pizza or in the salad. Some bakeries here have olive bread (Italian recipe?), which is really tasty.
For supper I like to eat a few cheese-filled green olives, together with slices of bell pepper and tuna fish.

Yummy green olives!
Without seeds, stuffed with pepper or lemons. I love eating them and they taste pretty good. The bigger, the better.
I like them impaled on a sandwich. Or combined on a pick along with cheese, bread and ham.

Just not a fan of the black olives.

What a coincidence you posted this question. Yesterday I went out and bought some big olives stuffed with red pepper inside a glass container. After I ate some of them I liked them so much, that I went today to the same shop and bought 1 more stuffed with pepper and 1 more stuffed with lemon. They have a higher price than the MSRP but so what.

I've become convinced that olives are the stuff Satan shits. I cannot stand them.

Not only can't I stand them, I can't tolerate food where I have to pick them out. Very often they leave their oils behind, befouling my food.

My family had two olive trees in our front. My mother would put them in salads occasionally. I never ate any of those crappy salads.

I actually do love olives any are fine although I prefer black olives… they just taste better! But I will say this… as much as I love olives, they are the kind of food that there really is such a thing as too much of a good thing! I thing in small amounts they add tremendous flavor, but too much can be overpowering!

That is very true! One time I had a salad with what I’m pretty sure was an entire red onion on it. Ewww. Way too much. Especially considering onion hadn’t even been on the menu. Hubs burger had mayo and bbq sauce. The mayo also had not been on the menu. The waitress laughed and said the chef likes to put things people don’t typically like on the food that isn’t on the menu. Wtf?

Follow up question, if the menu says tomato, mozzarella, basil, balsamic and olive oil why would someone think to ask if that also includes an entire red onion? 😂

It's weird, but olives are the most horrible tasting thing to me. They look so good. Every once in a while I'll wonder if my taste buds have matured. But no. 🤮🤮🤮
I love olive oil and even some sauces like putanesca that are made with olives.
My wife LOVES olives. Many people do. So I don't know what my problem is.

My SO and I have a disagreement over olives, especially when we order pizza. I like black olives, which she hates. She likes green olives, which is okay with me. We often compromise and get half the pizza with black olives and half with green.

We both agree, though, that Kalamata olives taste really good. You can put them on anything or eat them as-is.

I like Kalamata olives the best, green olives are good too, black olives are good when I don’t want to eat anything salty. Beldi is pretty good too it’s a bit different from your normal olive, they are quite expensive though in the states. Any olive I’ve tried had been good so far….

Kalamata olives if I am just eating olives plain.
Manzanilla are the pitted green ones and usually stuffed. I like the ones stuffed with either pimento or garlic cut up in potato salad.
Which ever ones they put on my pizza is good too... ;)

I’m not an expert on olives but I like the green kind with red in between. For a pizza or salad though, I prefer black olives. Green olives are better for sandwiches. I also don’t mind eating them alone without a food item to pair it with.
