Why are some products labeled non-dairy if they contain milk derivatives?

These companies get away with it. Just like the Squirt pop soda has grapefruit juice in it and I had to call the pharmacy to see if the medications are safe to take while drinking Squirt soda pop and they called me back and said, it was safe to drink with Squirt soda pop.
@Cherry234 I agree with you on that one.
It basically means a product that is not dairy but is not dairy free, so it can have a percentage of a dairy product in it but not actually be fully dairy product, but basically using some dairy contents to mimic a full dairy product.. As opposed to a dairy-free product that cannot contain any dairy.
That's hydrogenated soybean oil with some added chemicals and something else added that once came from a cow before it was processed to oblivion. I wouldn't recommend putting that in your body.
It at some point did in fact come from a cow.

Dairy-free means the complete absence of all dairy ingredients.
Non-Dairy refers to products that can contain a milk derivative.
Don't ask me why they have the difference but that's how it is. So always look for a Dairy-free instead if you need to.
I’ve never tried coffee mate or seen the label cause I steam whole milk but maybe they substituted the milk for soy milk or other alternatives.
Oh micellilar casein
The milk derivative is micellar casein. It is made by separating the casein curds from the liquid whey. That leaves the casein micelles in the finished product, and no milk, so it is non-dairy.
It must be because of the name. The main name of this product is milk powder. but it does not contain milk. It is not considered a dairy product because it is called powdered milk but does not contain milk.
Labeling laws are fucked. Even though a product contains small amounts companies are allowed to say it has zero.
Trans fats for example.
Dairy is the same
No lactose and other stuff from milk that is considered dairy, but other parts of the milk that aren’t considered dairy are kept
Cuz it has minute amounts of milk
That's a good question
