Which do you prefer: spaghetti already mixed together or noodles and sauce separate?

Question

I prefer to mix my noodles and sauce all together in the pot before serving. My sister hates it that way. She prefers to keep the noodles and sauce separate until it's actually on the plate. And I hate it that way lol. Although I think most people like it separate.

I put mixed, but this is because I make the food and I have to feed myself and 3 others. This is what happens when you keep them separate.

The noodles will be taken in a moderate amount, while the sauce will be piled into a stack on top of the noodles in excess... to the point that I find most of the sauce makes it to the garbage can, and then I'm left with a bunch of noodles with no sauce.

Yes, there are workarounds like making their plates for them, but damn it sucks to make plates and play servant as well when you just got through spending 40+ minutes playing cook as well. All in all, it is just easier to mix it all together and problem solved. I make my food, and then I give the green light for them to get theirs.

I prefer 'A' in most cases. I like it when the pasta is totally coated.
My wife prefers 'B'. I'm okay with it either way.

Linguini with clam sauce of fettuccine Alfredo definitely needs to be mixed. Skyline chili and certain chunky spaghetti sauces are better when ladled over the pasta.

I prefer it all mixed in! Then you don't have to worry about not having enough or having too much for the pasta batch!

My boyfriend prefers it separate. I usually serve him first and then mix it all in. We don't typically have leftovers when we make pasta for this reason!

I had to deal with mixed for most of my life and he noodles always sucked up all the sauce. I finally convinced my fam to do salad bar style and have the sauce separate from the noodles. Been going strong about 5 years now 💪

I've never once thought about this before in my life. But usually, if I make spaghetti or someone else was making them, they'd keep things separate until ready to serve. Cause they noodles and meat/sauce are supposed to be different temperatures. So I've only ever known them as "Separate."

Ya know I never gave it much thought, but now I think about I love it separated. That explains why spaghetti bolognaise microwavable ones are always to me disappointing now I know.
I quite like pasta just by it's self tbh so when separated you can have some parts of the pasta untainted by the sauce.

It's called presentation and aesthetics. To serve spaghetti right, you're supposed to serve the sauce on the side so as to invite the diner to choose his own level of engagement with the sauce.

Different people like different amounts of sauce and Parmesan; mixing it preemptively takes away their autonomy.

I prefer it separate using tomato sauce. Because then I can put as much or as little sauce as I like. I don't mind eating spaghetti with sauce already mixed in it, just no bolognese sauce.

I like that tiktok pasta. Take pan throw in grape tomatoes and feta. Zest and squeeze lemon. Diced garlic, salt pepper. Roast and mash it all up then broil it. Mix with whatever pasta you like & throw some fresh basil on top.

Some pasta's I like better separate, like spaghetti and angel hair, often times linguine. But it depends on the sauce or gravy, and it depends on the dish too. For instance, pasta a la norma HAS to be mixed together.

If we're talking Italian food the sauce is always mixed if I'm not mistaken. If we were in Italy, I'm pretty certain the picture on the right would never be served that way.

It's fine to mix it all together if you're going to eat it all right then. It's best to keep it separate if you're going to save it for later or the next day because the spaghetti soaks up all the sauce

Well, if it's already mixed, then I don't have to mix it myself. But, on the other hand, if it's not mixed, then I get to pick my own noodle to sauce ratio. So... Both methods have their benefits.

I like to mix it when I'm eating but I prefer to serve it as separate. That way I know much better the amount of sauce that went into it. You can't have too much sause but you definitely can have too little.

When I visited Italy (near Pisa) the pasta was always mixed with the sauce, and I was informed by those in that region that that is the "authentic" way to have pasta - so that is the way I enjoy it now. :)

I like a mixed together and makes a sauce go farther with the noodles. If you have sauce only sometimes there's those that have a tendency to take more on the sauce. Just makes it go a lot farther.
