Should I pre-cook shredded chicken and freeze it or just freeze it uncooked?

I'm thinking pre-cook shredded chicken simply because when it comes time to cook a meal with it, it will already be cooked and all I will need to do is just basically heat it up with the food instead of the extra 20min or so cooking the meat takes to do first.

Also, I'm just really interested in what category this kind of question will end up in on a website like this. lolz.

Do not reheat chicken.. cuz if u pre cook shredded chicken, freeze them, n reheat them again, u will lose the nutrients, the protein source will get denatured or broken down, or simply way is protein molecules unfold or break apart, which is this is what our body does to protein, breaking down the amino acids n digesting protein.. we know chicken rich of protein tho, rehating them might causes the composition of protein changes..

Also reheating chicken might dry out the meat tho, not juicy, it taste not as fresh as uncooked, cuz reheating will decreasing water activity of its meat..

Ofc 1st option is way more simply cuz it cooked already, but its not healthy and we get no nutrients tho.. so better to freeze them raw

but seriously, that's a good idea :O It makes me think: every time I do groceries, and get frozen meats- I should cook all of them the day of (to my liking) and then freeze them for later.

Exactly what I'm thinking. I've already bought bags that I can boil... with my food saver vacuum machine. I could put pre-made meals in them and just boil them and eat right out of the freezer. Microwave approved as well, I just like the boiling idea better. I'm going to try and put this into practice tomorrow. Grill up some chicken on the pellet smoker and my favorite veggies... it's making so fucking hungry just thinking about it.

If it's getting heated already, might as well do a little more work to seal it in jars. Then won't take space in the freezer. But I only eat roosters I raised because of course the quality... also chicken's natural estrogen content scares me so i eat roosters with their raw balls.

For reals I should start jarring (canning... don't know why some people call it canning when it's in a jar). I originally bought a pressure cooker because I was growing mushrooms and had to sterilize the substrate, but haven't been using it since. It's a really smart idea because if shit really hits the fan, the power could go out. I should get my Mom to show me the ropes... she's all about that stuff.

It’s easier to cook first and then freeze, especially if you just want to throw it in something else later on. Make sure to put the chicken in an airtight container or ziplock and put it in the freezer ASAP. Don’t let it sit around at room temperature too long after cooking, you don’t want microbes culturing.

Depends on how soon you're planning on eating it. Cooked frozen chicken ages faster than none cooked chicken. Plus it's chopped, so that speeds up expiry even more

This is what I was told on the general internet. It will lose flavor... may be edible, but the taste will start to go quicker. I'm thinking I might be fine though because It will most likely be used in a week's time. Just keep track of it and use the FIFO method with the freezer goods.

How do you shred uncooked chicken?

Just cut it up in random directions with scissors. I find it faster than doing the cutting board and knife method, plus less cleaning after or doing things like making sure it's partially frozen just to cut it easier. My meat processor will turn it into slop so I try to avoid that thing.

I should buy a salad shooter and just give it a try 😂
