When eggs come out of a chicken, they have a natural coating called a "bloom" that seals the eggs. If you have those kind of eggs, you don't have to refrigerate them. Just wash them with soap and water before you use them.
Commercially produced eggs get washed, which removes the bloom. Then the eggs are refrigerated for transport and storage. If you buy eggs from the store, they do not have the "bloom". And once they are refrigerated, you have to keep them refrigerated.
Yeah I went down a rabbit hole one day reading about eggs. When you wash off the protective outer membrane on the egg it actually increases the risk of bacteria/food poisoning. This is why the eggs must be refrigerated. It’s oddly a US thing from what I gather.
@Agagagagaga. Several years ago some new next door neighbors moved in. The girl has lots of chickens and other fowl as pets. She gave me a couple dozen chicken and duck eggs and told me about the "bloom". I had never heard of that, so I did the same as you. I researched eggs.
And you're right. There are laws in the U. S. that require washing and refrigeration. There are lots of countries that don't do that.
I still get eggs from our neighbor. My wife has a friend who gives them to us, as well. We had 5 chickens of our own at one time, but they got eaten, I think by a bobcat. Before that, it was a joy to go out and get fresh eggs from our chickens every morning.
But I'm happy to have access to unprocessed eggs.
Washing the bloom is, from what I understand, uniquely an American and Canadian practice. I didn’t really look into it until I started dating my husband - he’s European. I remember him commenting on how we have to keep eggs in the fridge over here, and I had no idea what he was talking about.
Fridge. We don't have a latter one

If they were bought from a fridge they get stored in the fridge if they were on a shelf they get stored on a shelf.
Most eggs in the USA have been bleached which breaks down the natural protective barrier of the shell hence why they are stored in the fridge.
Farm fresh however are good at room temp (unless it's hotter than Satan's asshole)
British chicken are vaccinated against salmonella and routinely tested. American chicken's are not. Although there's no need to refrigerate British eggs many do anyway. In our family they're kept in a larder.
A small cool room used to store food. The British call it a Larder the Americans a pantry
Are we talking chicken eggs that you eat here? Or?

Well the thing is you can leave a pasteurized egg out for literally a week and it will be fine. However unpasteurized eggs can go far longer. And if you have your own chickens you should never pout them in the fridge because it will mess it up. But because I don’t trust myself to keep track of them right… I always keep them in the fridge because my brain is too scattered.
In the US, eggs are best stored in the fridge. The USDA requires eggs be washed before they are sold in stores. This removes a protective coating that eggs naturally have that prevents spoiling.
If you live in Europe, eggs are typically stored at room temperature. There is no requirement to wash the eggs, which leaves that protective layer intact.
I store eggs in my refrigerator at 34 degrees Fahrenheit & after that the eggs slowly disappear & magically turn into omelettes over time.
I keep store bought eggs in the fridge, if my friend gives me some of her fresh eggs I store them at room temperature & use them up quickly (2-3 days).
When I buy them from the store they're already in the refrigerated area so I just keep them in that refrigerated area I don't want to let them sit out and get warm when they've been cold all this time
I’ve always stored my eggs in the refrigerator. They last longer in there, and that space in the fridge that’s only useful for storing eggs would go to waste if i didn’t! Haha!
I’ve always stored my eggs in the fridge. No actually reason for it, that’s how I’ve always done it.
Fridge.
because mayonnaise will get you sick if you leave it out and it’s the eggs that are the dangerous part so…I just feel better by keeping my eggs cold
They'll developed salmonella at room temperature
In the fridge. I don't want to get ecoli or salmonella or anything else.
frig because my mom used to but also at the market they are refrigerated to last longer
I buy my eggs from our local farmers. I store them in our kitchen. not refregiator
Depends on where you are from. If you're from the US and buy or eggs in a grocery store, then you have to keep them refrigerated because of the way that they are cleaned before they are packaged.
Fridge, but just because that's how we did it growing up. I know some people do it at room temperature but I've honestly just never questioned which is better.
Eggs are laid with a protective coating. Store-bought eggs in the US wash that coating off, so they need to be refrigerated. Farm-fresh eggs that are unwashed can be stored at room temperature.
Both. In Germany, they have two "best before" dates, you can store them at room temperature up to the first, then in the fridge until at least the second (we still use them as long as they're not off after that date, too).
room temperatre, cause i use them so fast, they never spoil anyway. only when i'm gone for like a week, i keep them in the fridge.
My mom keeps our eggs in the fridge so they don't go bad
I put them in the fridge because my mother did
Refrigerator if store bought unless I get them from someone who has chickens then I can leave them out since the shell is thicker
We have to refrigerate eggs here in Canada, as does everyone in the US, at least eggs that you buy at the supermarket.
What kind of weirdo doesn't refrigerate their eggs?
Refrigerating eggs is actually unnecessary. The US refrigerates eggs while much of the rest of the world doesn’t.
@Agagagagaga you have to refrigerate US eggs because they remove the protective layer. Other countries don’t do this.
Fridge but that picture of it is horrible. They'll lose temperature being in the door, they should retain the same temp on a shelf.
at fridge lol.
my parents do it. so I do it as well. lmaooo, no reason.
fridge i "think" not sure but think they'd last longer
They go right from the hen house to a big bowl in the center of the kitchen table.
In the ref so they won't rot right away.
Fridge, cause my mom always told me to do so haha
I don’t store eggs, I only fertilize them. ZINGO!!!
They'll go bad much faster if you leave them out!
