Why are eggs white in the USA?

They’re not just white, Both the “Publix” and the “Winn Dixie” grocery stores by my parents house and the ones by my house have White eggs, Brown eggs, and even BLUE eggs! Yes chickens do naturally lay Blue eggs! Check out the link: https://www.google.com/search?q=blue+eggs+chicken
So maybe you need to wonder why they dont sell BLUE chickens eggs in your country, and only sell brown and white eggs?
Eggs are generally white. Even when people draw eggs, they use white crayon! I think with the brown eggs, like someone said, maybe it's the type of chicken. However, I heard that brown eggs were healthier because they were cage free? I don't know, lol, I am just confused too haha. I've eaten BOTH white and brown eggs. In the Philippines, they have white eggs as well as Quail eggs and probably more variety of eggs. We also got white DUCK eggs called Balut lol. But that one's harder to eat because it's an ACTUAL duck fetus so it has the feathers and beak already lol. It's like half-way to becoming a duck. It's sad.
We have both white and brown eggs in both Canada and the USA. White eggs are layer by white Leghorn hens & brown eggs are laid by Plymouth Rock and Rhode Island Red hens. And there is several other hen varieties that lay green and blue green eggs which are lower in fat and cholesterol otherwise all eggs are of the same nutritional value.
it's just the breed of the chicken..
I think it is called White Leghorn... and they lay white eggs, lol
many people think eggs are "bleached" to make them look nicer but no... they are sanitized because of salmonella and other stuff, and they do that with all eggs alike (mass produced) redbrowns as well

Eggs can come in all kinds of colors in the United States especially around Easter.
We also have brown eggs as well & some of those eggs have EB stamped on them as well.
We sell eggs to a few grocery stores and none we sell are white
We have both in the USA. White out numbers brown at least 20 to 1. I’m assuming it’s cheaper to raise chickens that lay white eggs then it is to raise chickens that lay brown eggs. It’s the USA, everything boils down to profit.
It's only a matter of time before some psycho says eggs are racist
Ha! I actually spit my drink out when I read that!!
Different chicken breeds have different egg shell colors. Thumb rule is the color of chicken legs is similar to egg shell color. Green/gray legged chicken have often bright white egg shells sometimes even slightly green, while chicken breeds with yellow or brown legs lie eggs with brown egg shells. There is even Australian breed of chicken who have black blue shimmering feathers and blue legs. These chicken have green/blue eggs.
Like others have said, shell color is just a genetic trait of the breed of chicken producing it. Brown eggs are available in the US but white is much more common. From what I understand, the hens that lay brown eggs are larger and more expensive to feed, so economics probably plays a role in the decision to produce white eggs.
I honestly don't know, I think it depends on the species of chicken they're hatched from, because one of my co-workers raises chickens and his eggs are green.
That's so funny though, because I remember one time my mom took me to Poland, and she brought brown eggs one time and I refused to eat them, 'cuz i thought there was something wrong with them, 'cuz I'd never seen eggs that weren't white before that. I thought they were genetically engineered or something.
They’re not all white. We have white and brown eggs. Don’t know why. I think different types of chickens lay different colored eggs.
There are white eggs, brown eggs, green eggs, etc. It all depends on the bread of chicken they come from. For example Rhode Island Reds lay brown eggs where as White Leghorns, lay white eggs. It's pretty basic stuff.
It's just the type of chicken they come from. But we have both white and brown eggs in stores. I think it's just a coincidence that most of them are white shelled.
The USA also has lots of brown-shelled eggs.
Other countries have a lot of white-shelled eggs.
Probably to do with what the hens eat.
If you've ever tasted the difference between American chicken and British chicken the difference is the chickens are corn fed in America
It's a consumer preference. Now there's a notion that brown eggs are somehow more natural, so they are more expensive.
no it doesn't come from brown chicken...
a chicken will produce brown or white eggs. both taste the same.
It is the breed of chicken which lays the eggs
I don't know. I wonder if we use a different breed here🤔
While you are correct that different breeds of chickens lay different color eggs, however I assure you that you can buy brown eggs at your local supermarket. When it comes to chicken eggs, they sell white eggs, brown eggs, and at more upscale supermarkets they even sell blue eggs (which are lower in cholesterol) in the USA. They all come from different breeds of chicken.
@CrazyGirl2 dang i want a blue egg. That actually sounds pretty.
I knew we sold brown here just not as common to find.
But them other colors i never knew existed it was interesting learning that.
Thanks.
You’re so welcome sweetie. I thought this might be of interest to you? Maybe perhaps help you try to find some local to you. Here’s a link to “Blue Chicken’s eggs” they are naturally blue, they are not dyed, and from what I understand, they are more healthy because they are lower in cholesterol. Here’s the link: https://www.google.com/search?q=blue+chicken+eggs Good luck finding them @MsPutiton 💋
@CrazyGirl2 that is. And they are beautiful
It's crazy they almost look like they were dyed blue.
It's crazy cool
I know right? When my best friend and roommate, Judy told me about them I didn’t believe her, and so she bought some… They were delicious! But like you I couldn’t believe it until I saw them myself. Good luck and I hope you find some and give them a try, I’m absolutely sure you’ll love them!
@CrazyGirl2 this is added to my list of must get things
@Msputiton Please let me know how much you like them. Or if you don’t like them, please let me know that too.
@CrazyGirl2 will do and thx🥰
YW 😘💋
The brown eggs with a rich orange yolk are the good eggs. It’s just because it was layer by a different type of hen.
white chicken lay more eggs I prefer brown eggs myself for cooking sunny side up or over easy and white eggs for making hardboiled the shell peels off easier
The variety of domestic chicken breeds is why the eggs are different colors.
We sell eggs to a few grocery stores and none we sell are whiteg
Lol, Same reason that everything else "is"... if you catch my drift.
Not sure.
I have heard brown eggs are better for you though.
Just the species of chicken. We have brown eggs too.
We have brown eggs too. They are pretty much the same, just depends on the chicken it came from.
Jack is the King of the Kings. The Lord of the Lords. The conquering, Lion of Judah!
Depends on the chickenbreed.
Different types of chooks.
There's white and brown eggs in the USA.
It is because America is a racist country.
It’s so Awesome great food
We have brown ones too
Because they are fake?
Never heard of it
Because of racism
