They shouldn't if they want to as long as they're eating protein rich diet by that I mean eating soyabeans, spinach, lentils, peas, chickpeas, peanuts, beans, cauliflower, dry fruits like almond, pistachios, cashews, etc. If they make sure they eat these, they will be as healthy as the ones who eats eggs along with Vegeta or even people who eat non vegetarian food. I quit eating non veg food for some time years ago and felt bir weak as I couldn't eat some of the things I mentioned because they feel heavy to me, so I switched to being a non vegetarian again.
Also, they wouldn't be vegetarians if they eat eggs, it will make them eggetarian.

Vegetarians simply don't eat meat. But they will eat eggs, milk and milk products like butter and cheeses that aren't the result of killing animals.
I get eggs from friends and neighbors who raise chickens humanely. They don't pasteurize the eggs and even leave the bloom on. That way you don't have to refrigerate them. You just wash them off before using them.
I love cheeses from around the world and butter.
I buy organic milk.
I mourn the loss small, independent dairy farms that have been lost to large, corporate operations who treat their animals badly and use antibiotics and are now injecting cows with mRNA vaccines.20 Reply

+1 yIsn't eating eggs (and dairy) the difference between being vegetarian and vegan? 🤔
Full disclosure, I'm eating a bacon cheeseburger cooked rare with maple barbecue sauce right now as I'm responding to this question, so I admit that this topic really isn't in my wheelhouse.

@NYCQuestions1976 I had a homemade grass fed burger stuffed with goat cheese topped with caramelized onions, pickles and smoked sea salt. I had a piece of lettuce on it for good health.

@Friendlybro79 My Father always ate burgers with pickles and onions on them. I like putting minced onions in chop meat when making burgers.
Smoked sea salt is a new one on me. The smoked part anyway. Do you buy it like that? Or do you prepare it on the grill or in the oven somehow? I'm quite familiar with smoked mozzarella though. We're good friends. - +1 y
You can buy it like that but I am now wondering if I can make it myself on a pellet grill. Smoked sea salt is not overpowering. It's a nice finishing salt too. If you make a cowboy ribeye and slice it before serving you can sprinkle a little smoked sea salt on top. It's a nice touch. It's also great in eggs. Just a little is needed.
I like your minced onion idea - +1 y
@Friendlybro79 Oh man I haven't had a good ribeye in a while. Ribs also.
Do you ever make barbecue sauce from scratch? It's pretty easy to make a sweet and spicy one. Tomato paste, molasses, maple syrup, and a dry rub called "Red Eye". It's a spicy rub, and also has caffeine. - +1 y
I have but not in a while. That recipe sounds delicious.

@Friendlybro79 It's fantastic, and awesome on spare ribs.

I think each person should decide on their own what they eat. I for excample dont eat meat and fish but I do eat cheese and eggs. I do call myself vegetarian but if other people have stricter definitions I am fine with saying I am an ovo-lacto vegetarian, Or I just dont eat animals. On the other hand why is there a difference between vegetarien and vegan if we dont use it?
Also depending where you get your eggs from they will never hatch as they are not fertilized.12 Reply- +1 y
Vegans don't consume or use any animal derived products. It extends further than just what you eat or drink.
- +1 y
Yeah I dont do that either, I just like eggs and cheese. I dont even drink milk, make sure to use only vegan hygienic products and make sure to not use leather. But this may sound like I am showing off and that is not what I want to do here. Just saying and agreing, that I am aware, eating and drinking is not all of it.

+1 yFirst remember that a vegetarian is not a vegan. The easiest way for a vegetarian to get proteins vitamins enough is to eat now and then some eggs, and comsume milk or cheese. This makes the vegetarian regime far easier, and normally on top, no harm is done to any animal when consuming eggs and milk products.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI personally consider eggs meat. So if they are vegetarian because they don't want to eat meat, I'd say no.
If they are vegetarian because they don't want to sustain themselves if the byproduct is killing an animal, then I'd say yes they can eat eggs since you don't kill the chicken to get the eggs.
If they are vegetarian because they don't want to indirectly support an industry that abuses animals to recieve those products, then no, they shouldn't eat eggs (unless they validate a source as non-abusive).10 Reply
+1 yWhich one is that? I get it confused with vegans. They keep adding more and more types. So is there now vegetarians, vegans, v only, plant eaters, no live things for me... type of people? One eats eggs the other doesn't. Whichever is strictly against animal products does not.
00 ReplyYeah I mean some people by the literal definition it's fine. Some are vegetarian just for health reasons, and eggs aren't that unhealthy unless you're splurging. If eggs become a No then it's just stricter vegetarian or possibly vegan

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yvegetarians should eat whatever they want and it's no one elses business. i'm so sick of people asking me if i can eat eggs... yeah i eat eggs (only in different forms, actual eggs are disgusting to me because i hate the taste)
00 ReplyWhatever they eat they should get the nutrients n all from the food they eat 2 prevent deficiency. If they don't eat eggs it could b good in avoiding whatever is bad in the egg n get the nutrients from whatever they eat instead of the egg.

+1 yThere are different types of vegetarians, in your case ovo-lacto meaning just dairy and eggs. What you eat is your choice.. there are some strict vegetarians that have no eggs, fish, dairy. Called vegans.

+1 yThey're not vegan so I guess they can still consume dairy.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yWell this is why the term vegan exists.
Some people don't eat animals but do eat animal products and some do not eat or use anything which comes from animals, not even milk or leather.

Opinion Owner+1 ySo, do I think an egg is defined as being meat or not?
It doesn't matter what I think or what anyone else thinks. These catagories are just for the purpose of conveying a general idea, there may well be further sub groupings or definitions for people who want to drill down deeper into the subject and then those definitions mean whatever they mean but none of this is doctrinal in any case, they aren't rules which must be followed.
If you think someone might care about the specifics then feel free to clarify but generally speaking it is not necessary.
If this stuff matters or is relevant to you then go and learn what the sub groupings are, they no doubt exist.

I mean an egg is not a chicken. It's an egg. But it did have potential to be a chicken.

Being vegetarian doesn't mean you only eat vegetables either
That depends entirely on their reasons for being vegetarian.
