Anyone looking forward to corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's Day?

My wife only let's me have it once a year. It is fatty and is loaded with sodium. It is really good though

Yes, absolutely! I can't wait! One of my favorite meals of the year. But I have to say that my favorite dinner is the night after when I get to slice that leftover corned beef and make an ooey-gooey Rueben sandwich. Light rye bread piled with corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss cheese and grilled to perfection. Mmmmm, my mouth is watering now!

The Irish do it with boiling bacon (similar to gallon) rather than cornbeef which is actually saltbeef in the uk. But most Irish people I know do a beef or lamb stew instead.

Absolutely! I love corned beef. And the leftovers make great sandwiches.
We make it in a crock pot with potatoes, cabbage and carrots.

Nice. We have one of those, too, and use it for lots of things.
My wife uses it to make hard boiled eggs. I don't know exactly how she does it or where she got the idea. But the eggs practically fall out of the shells when you peel them. They never stick.

we used to always go to my brothers for st Patrick’s … he always made corned beef with cabbages … I like fatty meat.
hubby and kids don’t care for it…

The challenge will be finding a good one in the supermarket. I am thinking of getting one from Omaha Steaks, I got a standing rib roast a few months ago and it was awesome. It was also sort of pricey.

Up until covid there was a local supermarket that had a great meat counter. I used to buy everything there. It is not the same and I remember having to look around last year. This year I may try Onaha Steaks. I got a rib roast there last yearcant it was the best one I ever had
