I just make small tweaks to my nutrition as needed to stay lean.
For example, in university I was starting to put on weight so I cut out sodas and fruit juice. In my 30s, I started to get a bit flabby so I even cut out sugar and cream from coffee and took it black.
Now in my 40s, I just recently cut out alcohol. That was one of my biggest calorie leaks.
I just make little tweaks like this as I go to stay reasonably lean and meet my athletic goals.
I always favored, even as a boy, as nutrition that I think wasn't too bad. I was a protein lover without a sugar tooth (except for drinks), favoring things like chicken wings instead of cake or ice cream when my parents asked me what I wanted for dessert. So my macro ratios were always skewed towards high protein, low-moderate carbs (usually complex), and moderate fats.
The main thing I had to increasingly cut out was junk. I did like some junk here and there like sugary drinks, alcohol, too much pizza, etc. Yet my daily go-to meals were always quite healthy. So it's just been a matter of gradually tweaking out junk over the years. I have very little left now that I regularly indulge in now that I've eliminated alcohol.
Cheers! One thing I also do now is that I always keep chopped carrot and celery sticks in the fridge. Gives me something very calorie-sparse to snack on.
Also I never deliberately set out for 2MAD, but I developed a habit of skipping breakfast in my teens when I was a competitive sprinter and long jumper. I found skipping breakfast, for some reason, always allowed me to set my best records on the 100m dash and long jump. So I almost never eat breakfast except at special social occasions with family, e. g.
Protein.
Fiber.
Caffeine.
Paris13, dear, I couldn't read that comment, I haven't had My coffee yet.
@DagonbroughtMehere lol!!! I have Had My Jettie for Us Both, dear. xxoo
I eat once a day after 3 pm. My body has adjusted to this it seems whether I need to lose gain or stay the same, that’s what happens. I find in eating once a day, I’m far more easily and disciplined in eating exactly what I need.
I eat for nutrition rather than stress, boredom, or possible low blood sugar (based on random symptoms that I get independent if blood sugar. I e when I’ve eaten blood sugar is fine I nay still be dizzy shake weak bc of a diff condition) etc, I’m trained to go long periods without food so when no food is available, my body handles it very well…
In addition, for myseif, food tends to cause numbness tiredness lack of focus and overall disincentive.. so getting it over with once and towards the end of the day adds a lot of freedom if concerns and activity for me and it frees up so much for the rest of the day, where as well I can be more active…
Meals, cooking, food prep, sitting— just takes up too much time for my preference. Of course it’s not recommended for everyone, but this is what works for me. 😊
but then snack between daily meal is a problem. because high fat high sodium or sugar dnax.
Don't diet because you'll restrict yourself. I'd call it just eating healthier and quality not quantity of certain foods
exsctly eat lesd of certain things

Fasting until noon and limiting my eating window to an 8 hour time frame. And concentrating on eating low fat protein. Shake/smoothie for lunch/breakfast with fruits and vegan protein. Tuna or beef jerky around 3pm then a sensible balanced dinner. Goal of 1500 calories per day.
To curb my appetite I would work out in the mornings 4 days a week with the goal of burning 1000-1200 calories. Which I did from rucking for 2 hours or from Kettlebell exercises for 1.5 hours.
I lost 60 pounds last year doing this.
bad advice, breakfast is very important after sleep and many hours no food.
the sumo gain diet is: wait to noon so eat when starving to gain sumo weight.
@strateguy632 I used to think the same, but after struggling with my weight for 15 years I decided to try something different and it worked.
I'm sorry I got nothing for you. I'm one of those people. A lot of you hate, I eat a lot and don't pay too much attention to what I eat and gain nothing. It's a blessing and curse at the same time. I would like to be a little bigger honestly but I struggle to gain weight. I will admit probably a better problem to have 😅
lucky genetics!
@strateguy632 lol I'm not denying it. Be nice to be a little bigger than I am a skinny guy. But I definitely got the better end of the deal.
I quit eating sugar! I do not eat any cookies, cakes, or things with added sugar. I still eat fresh fruit, but nothing with added sugar. I've gone 70% Keto, but I still eat some bread, chips, etc, but very little.
I eat a lot of fresh fruits and veggies. There are Keto friendly snack bars and ice cream bars.
Since I quit sugar, I've lost weight and sleep better.
it was tough around Christmas and during King Cake season to refuse sweets!
superb, and you mentioned veggies!
I have been to different dietitians many times before. But they always gave the same diet list. So it was not possible to lose weight. Then I went to a private dietitian and the diet she gave was better for me. It is necessary to prepare a personalized diet list. Not everyone should be given the same diet list. Because this doesn't work
Definetly low carb diet is good for me with walking every after two days. And eating dinner earlier and not eating afterwards. And no alcohol for two weeks when I start.
I don't do it that much, but mine will be intermittent fasting
Sometimes I do it without prior intention.
Mostly cutting out carbs. I ate mostly steak, eggs, chicken with beans, and a lot of salads. I stayed away from bread and cookies.
but carbs are the BEST source of steady power. starch in bread. also the reason sugar is tasted sweet is because it is the fastest energy source available, in moderation with carbs.
the problem with cookie cake and crackers are very hi fat concentrated in each ounce.
@strateguy632 carbs are good sources of energy. I did eat some carbs but cut back on them and just ate things like whole grain bread, raisin bran and I always add a scoop of oatmeal to my protein shake
Eat like a king at breakfast, a prince at lunch and a pauper for supper.
Front load the day with protein and work towards the carbs at night.
Same old rags: I need the money to buy the food! ;- )
It's non fat tasteless yogurt with kale, spinach and almond milk along with mixed berries and lemon fresh squeezed in a smoothie. Salmon and quinoa or brown rice. Maybe a banana also and grapes.
adding exercise, i didn't change eating diet.
Atkins about 21 years ago. Took me off all my chronic meds for diabetes and blood pressure. Healthiest I've been in the last 30 years
carbs relates to diabetes makes sense.
Low carb diet is the best for me, without a doubt!
I feel like I'm always on diet. I eat healthy food only, home cooked food.
It turns out that a GLP 1 agonist like Trulicity, which I use for diabetes, is also a remarkably effective weight loss drug. Sometimes a little too effective if you aren't careful.
Intermittent fasting from 6pm to 12pm the next day. I would have a protein shake with some fruit, and for supper I would have 5oz of protein ( chicken, or fish), with a small greek salad. Snacks would be any type of berries ( strawberries, rasberries, blueberries, etc). and 1.5 hours of cardio 4 days a week. I lost 70 pounds in 4 months.
Diets are what you eat every day, If I want change, it is a lifestyle change.
Coffee helps a lot I find curb my appetite and helps to track.
Foreboding all fast food and processed food. Cook for yourself. No need to eat horribly. The Atkins diet showed you can lose weight with large portions of protein. Just work it off with exercise.
It’s not difficult, just hard to start. I’m a pot calling a kettle black. lol
Poverty, I didn't have any money to buy food.
Just stop snacking at night to lose weight
Yeah I should do that at night
